To the experts of that range,

I purchased a collection of SOHK figures and I received the following in a box marked HK91B MAN (M).

It is, of course, the wrong box for the figure (or the wrong figure for the box :)).

I am suspecting that it may be the figure numbered HK083 and entitled Chinese Snack Man.

But, in the website of B. Sager, there is no image available for that item.

Accordingly, expertness is needed :)

Pierre.

Pierre,

That is HK 9, Dai Pai Dong. According to the March 1994 brochure, he's supposed to come with a portable food stall. Congratulations, looks like you've bought an early figure. Go to page two of this brochure .

I'd love to know what else you got.

Hi Brad-

Thanks.

You deserve more merits than me for your research as I already have the complete HK9 set.

I thought that the early SOHK figures were only in gloss finish. I would have never find it, otherwise than looking at my early SOHK display (see picture).

In the Silk Road serie, I am now missing only the SR007 item: The Ploughman (I am ready to pay a good price for that one).

As far as the Streets of Old Hong Kong serie is concerned, I have now more than one hundred figures/sets/buildings.

Thanks again.

Amitiés,
Pierre.

Pierre,

I assume that the figure is in matte. I know that some K & C figures in the mid 90s were issued in matte. For instance, LAH 05 has two versions of Hitler, one in gloss and one in matte. However, you make want to ask Louis as he has a big SOHK collection.

Your collection looks very impressive, especially the buildings. Nice job. My compliments.

Regards,

K&C has made the SOHK figures available in both matt and gloss finish since around 1995. The rough rider series and early WSS sets were also issued in both matt and gloss finishes. As far as I know, the first figures available in both matt and gloss were the Sgt. Pepper Beatles and the mounted Teddy Roosevelt circa November, 1993.
