hello.

first of all i have to admit that i know nothing about toy soldiers other than playing with them as a child (so this maybe the wrong forum to post in). i am a new york based photographer. the project i am working on is purely a personal one.

i am interested in finding some interesting soldier figures around the 2" size. i am interested in all eras of war, but mostly to the 20th century. the type i am looking for would be pretty generic (unpainted). i have been coming across a lot of grey WWII figures too, that i like.

i am wondering is there a place in new york city that i could walk into and maybe looking and buy something like this? if not, is there a good web site that i could try?

thank you in advance.

Try Classic Toys. They're in Brooklyn and web based. Their owner, Gideon, is a member here. Why don't you try sending him a private message?

Welcome aboard. I never collected until 2 years ago and now I'm hard core. So you might wind up liking it. Also there's a show in late October over at Fairleigh Dickinson and you may want to check it out. It's the biggest toy soldier show in the East.

I agree with Gary. Toy Soldiers of San Diego do well detailed figures and have US Infantry, Germans (winter) and Russians (winter) with 8 poses a piece (appear slightly larger than the Conte figures), website at:

www.sdsoldiers.com

but my money is still on the Conte WWII figures, especially the 2 British Para sets and the German sets 2, 3, and 4 (if you can find any of set 4).

Don't forget to check out W. Britain if you're looking for WWII plastics.
Why we happen to have them on our website;)

(By the way I moved your thread out of King & Country over here to plastics. If you weren't just looking for plastics we can move it to general toy soldier discussion.)

Regards,
