Whenever I think of the recent Napoleonic releases from W Britains I mostly think of sets and figures released individually. However the sets are usually full of action and fairly priced!

When W Britains first visited Waterloo again they released a model of Hougoumont along with some Coldstream guards sets. 3 of these sets included a mix of French and British in hand to hand sets! These were great sets and it is always good to buy a set and know that you have a mix of both sides as it gives you a sense of knowing which other figures will go along with them!

Other hand to hands to mention would be the Royal Dragoons Corporal fighting with the French soldier of the 105th Line with Eagle.

The Dragoon Captain parrying french soldier of the aforementioned regiment.

One of my favourite sets is the 'Death of Ponsonby' set and it was actually my first W Britains buy from the newer Waterloo sets.

Another set worth mentioning is the 44th Foot figure stealing from Dead French Lancer. This is a different kind of set and a great addition (I think) to the kind of sets available!

The Civil War Range recently had a couple of sets relating to the 'Death of Cushing' at Gettysburg and the main set included a Union cannon crew being attacked by Confederate forces. I think i'm right in saying that the set includes one confederate soldier and 3 union crew. I think this is a great set and actuslly considered buying it and the associated sets just to make a small scene! I really like how it has the main idea of a Union cannon crew with an addition of a Confederate showing just how close the 'rebels' got to the Union crews

I think this kind of idea could be applied to the Napoleonic range too; with an artillery crew being overrun by French troops!

Maybe soldiers of an artillery piece from a Battery of the King's German Legion?

Picture this:

A dead KGL crewman lying off to the side.

A crewman running away from scene.

A trooper lying on ground with hand up trying to appeal to either a French trooper about to run him through with bayonet, or a French Curassier, or Carabinier or Hussar about to do the same! The cavalryman or infantryman could be a seperate release.

The NCO of the crew having a sword fight with a French infantry officer, fending off bayonet attacks from a french infantryman or parrying the sabre blows of a cusarrier/Carabinier/hussar? This Curassier would be included in the set.

A selection of debris could be scattered about: cannon balls, buckets, a spit.

Sets to accompany this main set could consist of:

A KGL gunner with sponge and using it to try and defend against the attacks of a curassier or hussar or french trooper with bayonet!

A dead KGL gunner sitting up with legs out and head down as if he has died while sitting up against a wheel!

A mounted KGL Officer lying on ground under shot horse trying to get his leg out from under it.

Various French cavalry or infantry which could then be transformed into a Regiment of releases?

Possibly another KGL artillery piece, this time in action. With crew loading cannon with sponge, another crewman standing with cannon ball. Gunner behind gun with spit. And rest of crew being crew!

Gunner helping wounded NCO to nearest aid station?

Just a few ideas! More to follow no doubt!

Another mounted officer could be Captain Cleeve who commanded two batteries of 9 pounders near La Haye Sainte!

You might have to change your name to 'Battles of Holland mad' !!

Scott has some great ideas here. Maybe because other manufacturers have sets already out and under ertl a set was released of the RHA in action other members aren't so keen on seeing the release of a new set. I certainly would be, as for one thing the older Britians figures representing various Napoleonic figures vary greatly in scale and as I mostly collect the newer (1st Gear) Britians I would like to see at least two sets of RHA released. One representing of Mercer's and one of Ramsey's batteries.
