There has been discussion on another board about some "action" grade FoVs showing up at some Toys R Us outlets in the US. These are the slightly more austere versions of vehicles without as many accessories. The US 2 1/2 ton truck and the Elefant are two items that have been spotted. Someone speculated that these are the items that were brought in for Target stores last year but only showed up at a few.

Personally I went to a TRU in Omaha and found several of the "action" grade" GI 6X6 trucks for $26 each. Since I wanted more trucks for conversions I don't mind if they have the barricades, etc. The truck was the same paint job, perhaps a bit less weathering.

So here's another chance to get a truck (or an Elefant) at a reasonable price. Keep your eyes open!

Gary, What scale are those 2.5's? Thanks Mike

I was referring to the 1/32nd scale versions, but FoV recently has released a scaled down version in 1/72nd scale. I haven't seen the little truck in person yet but FoV does a decent effort with their small scale line.

Gary,
1/32...Many thanks.

By the way, I got around to opening my "austere" version of the GI 6X6 yesterday. The cab is plastic versus the diecast metal of the higher-priced version. I don't have a problem with plastic but I know some people do. In fact I wish I had the plastic version when I cut the cab down on one of my earlier ones. The tactical cab conversion would go MUCH better with plastic than that metal.
