This is possibly the best painting I've seen.

It's The box art for Young Miniatures' new bust - US 1-st. Cavalry 1969 Vietnam War 1\10 scale
painted by Kirill Kanaev

OK, someone explain to me how the artist got the rip-stop pattern in the uni so blasted accurate, and exactly even. This is amazing. -- Al

Hello Zach

while I agree the painting is insanely awesome, I believe the uniform is wildly incorrect. It appears as if he is wearing summer weight BDUs, which didn't come into play till sometime in the 80's (I believe). I cannot recall ever seeing a 1st CAV trooper wearing BDU's in Nam.

:(

Sorry Dude

He is wearing the special 1967 prototype! {sm3}
Yeah, I can't afford it either.

Thanks Zach. That certainly is the epitome of all figure painting. I downloaded it
and printed on photographic paper at high resolution. Looks like a photograph.
I may have it framed.

About the pattern on the shirt .
I'm not sure this is the technique used, but I have seen once a demo
1 aerograph an almost white green on all the surface
2 Use a canva ( medical gaze ) dipped in a mix of water and glue for wood, apply on the surface
3 make your camouflage pattern all over it with aérograph
4 take the gaze away

Best

I don't like busts but I recognise amazing painting when I see one
