Hello, everyone,

Here are some samurai that I picked up in an eBay auction, and I can't quite place them.

I thought that they might be early Frontline; the gentleman who sold them to me said that the collection included some low benches with decapitated captives' heads on them. I would swear that I saw those in a mail-order catalog (maybe Armchair General) back in the 90's, but I can't find the catalog in my files.

I am certain that they are of Hong Kong manufacture, and for that matter, the style of painting matches King-White/Reeves, but also the early years of the newermakers. The same can be said for the style of the castings themselves.

The figures have stickers under their bases. One officer has a sticker with "12/88 G-8", the other, "4/88 G-6". The one banner-carrier has a round base (which I never saw with King-White) and a sticker with "12/88" and what looks like "G-3". The other one has a square base with no sticker.

The six soldiers each have a sticker with "4/88 G-10 110"

Now, I do still have a copy of a sale catalog from Armchair General, from '97, and it does have some pictures of similar figures, with catalog numbers G-11 for samurai with swords raised above their heads, an officer directing fire (G-2), a picture of my G-6 officer, and a stand with a gong and gongsman (no number). Unfortunately, Armchair General didn't indicate the manufacturer; the catalog is made up of clippings from various manufacturers' flyers, that they cut up and pasted onto a page, and photocopied for their customers.

Does anyone recognize them? Are the Frontline, or are they King-White (Reeves)? Or are they from another maker?

Thanks in advance for any info about them!

Prosit!
Brad

I forgot an additional detail: The officers and the standard bearers are still packed in what is probably the original packaging. They are in relatively sturdy clear, vacuformed plastic blisters, each consisting of a front and a back piece, sandwiching the figure in between.

Prost!

These figures are part of a very large set made in the late eighties I believe.
I will try to find the original flyer that should be boxed away with the whole set I purchased back then. Give me a few days.
