I created this dio about a year ago. The Japanese Betty Bomber is from Tom Gunn as well as some of the soldiers. The other troops are K&C.

I used different lighting techniques and while not at the level of my December 7th dio, this is the best I can do.

The light and shadows cast on the display gives it an almost movie like scene and I want to see this movie !:salute::

Carlos, Robin and Steve.....thank you, gentlemen! I sincerely appreciate your positive comments. :salute::

What I need to learn is how you guys add a backdrop to your dioramas. I think this would be a nice touch to this layout.

Hi Mark, agree with the comments below, esp. Steve's re. the lighting and shadows. Adds a lot of atmosphere. You did a fine job combining K&C & TGM figures (my personal two favorite TS companies). Some great pieces among your collection, esp. that massive bomber and the two TG huts.

Love seeing all the details you included like the work bench/table; brings the dio to life. Nicely done!

EDIT: seeing your impressive dio inspires me to break out my own Japanese collection. ^&grin

Rob,

Thanks again for your kind words and I am super impressed with your Pacific dioramas especially the larger one! There are lots of details and everything is laid out beautifully. Well done!

Is the base of this diorama a photo with added foliage? It's difficult to tell because everything blends in incredibly well.

Thank you as well, Mark.
The base is an inexpensive soft mat I purchased in a toy store many years ago. It still comes in handy for those tabletop dioramas. I add some logs, rocks, and just a few trees & bushes for some added detail (but the foliage is printed/part of the mat).

The background I made from cardboard and printed jungle image (nothing fancy).

Here's an aerial view that shows the mat details a little better. I've enjoyed using it for numerous scenes.
