In both India and Pakistan, regiments with British origins and British titles, cherished by their officers and soldoiers, continue to wear uniforms and to carry colours, all based on the British pattern. The military legacy has not been entirely one-sided.In the British Army officers and soldiers with Indian experience have long since retired but much of the Indian influence remains. Colours bear Indian battle-honours, a score of brass gongs on guard-room verandahs brefer to Indian service....So I have dedicated this thread to the Sons of John Company and all are free to add their examples of this great military period.
Cheers

Luiz: Nice collection of India's soldiers. I enjoy your photos and glossy type figures. Thanks for posting them. John

Yep. All that is needed now is a red fire engine 🚒. I still struggle to understand why all buses are not red.

Will it be a traditional British bus? You wait for ages for one then two come along at once? 🚌🚌

M

The bus is the Trophy Heritage WWI bus available in green with British troops, grey with Royal Marine Light Infantry and red with Indian troops.DSCF2501.JPG20170111_163210_resized.jpg

There are quite a lot of period photos across the net. Some basic olive green camo was applied as and when but you can often see the "General" logo of London buses underneath.

There is a great photo that shows the original route board on the front of the vehicle which reads "Putney" under which some wag has scrawled "via Berlin". Typical of the optimism that prevailed during the earlier years of the Great War.

Now back to the Sons.
