South Carolina shooting... (1 Viewer)

don't know if anybody caught this today...

but I'm having a hard time justifying this one...

not sure what happened before the video started...

but this looks bad so far...

More than looks bad. Clearly a deliberate murder of a fleeing person - especially the last carefully aimed shot. Clearly the cop's life was not in danger. Also on film is the cop planting evidence. The person who took the video is lucky to have taken the video unscathed.

It's unfortunate that with police forces trying to rebuild their tattered reputations, one incident like this seems to justify all the claims that police forces are out of control.

The only justifications for shooting a fleeing suspect are:
The suspect has just committed a violent crime...
The suspect is holding a lethal weapon....
The suspect is approaching innocent bystanders with the potential to harm them...

Didn't see any of the above so this cop is in trouble!

Speaking from experiance, I chased on foot many a suspect. Most were for non violent type crimes and not one of those foot pursuits did it ever cross my mind to shoot the guy, never. I always give the police the benefit of the doubt but this one is tough. His only possible defense is that he chased this guy some 200 yards and as of now there is no video or witnesses to that portion of this event. He will have to be creative here, but if something occurred during this time frame to justify the shooting that's about his only hope.
As Rickey Ricardo said to Lucy "You got some esplaining to do"
