I've spent the last few weeks reading about this fascinating albeit tragic conflict in some detail. My appetite is well truly stimulated to invest in John's excellent range. Does anyone know if the range is to be expanded? I am particularly interested to know whether infantry are on the horizon, I'd love to see Republican Militia, Falange and Spanisgh Foreign Legion types make an apperence. Anyone know John's intentions for the range?

As well as collect them I'd love to wargame a skirmish from Jamara or Ebro etc!

Yours Aye!

Obviously only John can give a definitive answer, but I think his intendion is for the series to expand. A Republican BT-7 is iminent and somwhere in the pipeline is a I-16 Republican fighter. John was talking to visitors at the London Toy Soldier show earlier this year and he expressed a hope to add the International Brigades to his range.

If you want to wargame the Spanish Civil War I recommend the 28mm Wargame range from Empress Miniatures. It would be a bit cheaper and require less space!

Hi grey cap, thanks for the heads-up, I heard about the BT 7 but the International Brigades is news and good news....... hopefully John will come up trumps!

I love the Empress range, I've converted some Falagestas to BUF but have stopped short of raising an SCW army, nevertheless you've got me thinking!

Have you seen the new set of wargame rules published by Osprey "A World Aflame; interwar wargame rules 1918-39"? The rues are written by Paul Eaglestone who is part of Empress Models. A scenario provided in the rules covers the battle of Jarama Feb 1937. Includes some good pictures of Empress Models in action.

Yep, got them and really like them, although haven't played out a full game with them. In fact, it was Paul's embryonic set (the version on the Empress site) that got my interest going again on the struggle after a thirty year gap! Although, I really like John's SCW pieces, I admired them from afar as I was collecting 1745, FIW etc but now I am contemplating kicking off with a Panzer 1 or the Lancia, hence my curiosity on the possibility of the range expanding.

Have you played the rules yet, be glad to hear of your opinion on them? There appears to be a shortage of AARs.

No - I've just borrowed a copy from my local library. I'm more a WWII, post-war man myself. However, at Salute last year there was a demo game for the (imaginary) British Civil War circ 1937 "The Battle of Ambridge" which got me thinking about the inter-war period.

John Jenkins vehicles are very good - the best 1/30 vehicles around I think. The BT-7 looks very impressive and the Lancia has a nice "steampunk" look to it.

I think I remember that game, I've been intrigued by the VBCW concept, even though i was quite scepitcal when Solway brought it on to the market it has grown on me and as you say has also got me interested in the interwar period too.

I think the JJD vehicles are excellent! Especially the E-V/4 Ehrhardt armoured car. I bought the K&C version before John released his version and have regretted it ever since!

I was in contact with John last week, on another matter, and mentioned buildings in his range.

He said that he was planning on making a series of SPANISH BUILDINGS that would suit the Civil War and Peninsular War (Napoleonic) ranges he has established.

There was no time frame mentioned, but going on the 7 Years War Luthen series that I was inquiring I'd saw it will not be this year.

Something to look forward to???

John

Good to see you posting again, we have missed your input at the last few London shows.

Hi Jeff

Thanks for the kind words, commitments have interfered with things recently, hope to catch up with you in the bar at the December bash!
Kind regards

Martin

Obee

Sounds good, I wonder if the buildings are facades or the full monty? Nevertheless, they are bound to be good as all his structures to date. I can't think of any other manufacturer that produce Peninsula style buildings at this scale.

Not sure either... the hangars look like only a facade, and the Luthen walls...... but the North American building are full.

The problem I have is that my shelves aren't very wide and I can't fit in full buildings, but we shall have to wait?

And scroll to the second picture down and there is a picture of the first Spanish JJD building!

Doesn't seem to have been spotted by the treefroggers yet! :D
Think this shows huge potential for the new buildings John has been doing....
Leuthen for Christmas, Hangers any minute... can't wait!

Super, thanks for posting, I hadn't cottoned on nor did I get the hint when I was last on the JJDUK website!

Looks like the building is a facade....?

Love the 'Two Little Boys" blog.......if reinforcements are needed let me know and I'll unlock the display cabinet (mind you you seem to have enough of John's superb creations on the table).

Evzone,

The pictures all I've seen.... but I know there might be more than one!
Fantastic wargame skirmish opporunity with those spanish guerillas!

Mmm, interesting about reinforcements... perhaps we should plan something for 2013, do say hi at the December London show!

Hi James

Will do, see you on 1/12, lets chat it over. I've always wanted to do something like Cluck Amok did with Quebec.
