Spartacus - the final season (1 Viewer)

Mentioning Spartacus reminds me of that great line in the movie Airplane when the stewardess brings the little boy to the pilots cabin and the pilot Peter Graves ask the boy "Joey, do you like gladiator movies?"

Well did anyone watch this last night? I'm about to fire the old DVR up and sit down with a bowl of popcorn and watch it. Hopefully is doesn't disappoint.

Yeah - I just finished watching it.

Quite good - plenty of the usual gory details!

Should be an interesting last season.

Watched it last night; I wonder what the budget is for buckets of blood and severed heads on this show, must be in the millions....................boy were weapons in those days razor sharp and deadly, one swipe and buckets of blood fly and heads roll.............:rolleyes2:

Much of the same from previous years - which is good. I understand a young Julius Caesar will be one of the new characters this year. The Crassus characters is the most interesting addition.

Didn't you know the gladius was the samurai sword of ancient times:rolleyes2: Pure entertainment thats all it is. I do like the way Crassus character is developing though.

I do now based on this series........:wink2:

Have to hand it to those slaves back in the day, they really had their workout routines down to a science............

No mention of nudity on this forum?.......................:)

Just watched this today. I am now throwing all my money into red paint stocks. Flying blood, heads, and gladiators. What's not to like? The Crassus character does promise to be most interesting, as does his slimey son. -- Al

Anyone know what channel and when the final season starts in the UK, have seen no advertising in TV mags or trailers....?:(

Who knew a young Julius Caesar looked just like Brad Pitt? That's the kind of historical insight this show provides. LOL. Along with plenty of blood. I thought the second episode was a bit boring though. One of those building episodes.

Here's a bit of 'Spartacus' related trivia. About ten years ago I used to regularly do circuit classes at a gym in Sydney and got to know some of the faces there. One was a very buff looking bloke who really used to push hard and be very competitive but was a great guy: Manu Bennett - Crixus. A woman I used to chat too in another class introduced me to her Welsh boyfriend (and, eventually, husband): Andy Whitfield - 'Spartacus' (Season 1).

So don't mess with me, fellas, I was in gladiator school with Spartacus and Crixus! {eek3}

It's so sad about Andy Whitfield, big strong handsome guy in the prime of life.Just goes to show how precious each day is to us.One of the reasons that the creator of Spartacus is ending it is the loss of Whitfield.Nothing against the other guy but it just wasn't the same.On a lighter note what are you feeding these guys down there. Most of the new upcoming actors in movies and tv over here are Australians. Most Americans are eating their way out of these jobs.

Yes, Andy Whitfield's death was very sad. He was a good actor, wasn't he? His wife, Vashti, is a remarkable woman. She has a blog called Maybe McQueen if you are interested in reading it. She discusses life, raising two young children and working through her grief. It is inspiring: http://www.maybemcqueen.com/

I saw Manu Bennett appeared on the tv show "Arrow" the other day. I would like to see his career progress. He seems to be a pretty good actor and takes roles that fit him perfectly.

Nah, I think they [Australians] work cheaper. Nice in a way as you don't have to
watch the same actors program after program, season after season. Also, overseas
filming locations lend themselves to less expensive production costs and tax breaks.
We're taxing ourselves out of existence. Some States more than others. Except for
Facebook that is.
