I've been watching this French series on Netflix and like it quite a bit. There are a total of five seasons (eight episodes each), although Netflix only has the first four seasons so far.

The series follows a prosecutor, an examining magistrate (or judge), another attorney who respresents defendants and three police officers.

The overall theme of the first season dealt with the murders of two Romanian sisters but there are various other story lines (murder investigations) going at the same time, all skillfully weaved together; it's never disjointed. Some of the other story lines are not just confined to one show and some involve the characters' connections with each other.

Worth watching, in my opinion.

This is the second French series I've seen. Last year I watched Witnesses (Les Témoins) and that was excellent. A very unusual show.

I just finished Season 2. Superb. Better than the first year. Miss Karlsson is quite the snake!

Engrenages/Spiral is indeed a an excellent show (I watched the 4 seasons available in the US in French :smile2: -2 more to go). Others excellent French ones are "The returned/Les revenants" and "A French village/Un village français" The same actors are playing in those 3 shows (Gilou, Geraldine Karlson, etc.)

Very interesting story, excellent actors
Lot of different real facts were developped as if happening in the same village resistance passive and active, collaboration, day to day survival, every aspect of the occupation is covered .

Les revenants 2 seasons
A remake was made in the US with the same title in 2015

Also have a look at Braquo, I think you will like that .

The US remake of "Les revenants/The returned" was cancelled after season 1. I watched the first episode to compare it to the French one but they basically carbon copied it with bad actors (who of course look all like models). So stick to the French one...

Correct. I watched "Un village français" on Comcast on Channel 334. They show Spiral too on that one btw.

Thanks for the tip. Got to watch one episode of Braquo on Comcast 334 and it's indeed pretty good. I could not recognize Jean-Hughes Anglade btw...

MHz Choice has Two Seasons so far up for streaming. Eight episodes per Season. Haven't watched it yet. I'm still on Spiral.

I finished Season 5 last night. Doesn't disappoint. The Casting Director knows how to cast from the main
parts to the bit parts. For those doing without on Netflix Season 5 is available on eBay for $23. Worth it in my opinion.

I'm dying to post spoilers for Season 5, but I won't.

Just finished season 4, whew, what a great season. Just signed up for Hulu so I can watch seasons 5 and 6.
