Confederate Soldiers during a brief respite. May 1864.

Spotsylvania.jpg

Wanted to do another Civil War scene. Thought that today (the anniversary of the end of the Battle of Spotsylvania) was as good an excuse as any.

Enjoy! :salute::

Superb scene, the attention to detail is amazing!

Nice pic. Thanks for sharing.

Noticed the conte union dead in the foreground....... i have these also.....great for dioramas.
Lack of casualty figures often an issue with many ranges.

Good work. I was just at the Spotsylvania battlefield again for photography last Saturday, the first time in 10 years. My great-great grandfather was reported wounded from near there in newspaper clippings, but he always said he was wounded in the Wilderness. I have those Conte wounded you use in the foreground of your photo. They really portray the horrors of battle.

I was just at Antietam and Gettysburg in March... it always amazes me how small these battlefields really are, so much carnage packed into only a few miles of land.
