It would be cool to have some SS Traditionsgruppe figures dressed in Frederick the Great military uniforms to add to the LAH line.

Cheers for the pictures, GJB22! That's very unusual, had never heard of that before.

I suppose the obvious question does arise - if these guys were ever to be released in toy soldier form - of which historical period to class them in?!

Regards,

Molloy.

The historical period is simple, Third Reich.

Actually, this unit inherited its purpose and traditions from the old Schlosswache that Kaiser Wilhelm maintained. That was a ceremonial guard unit, whose charge was to guard the residences. If I am not mistaken, their ranks were made up of long-serving veterans, almost like pensioneers. The Kaiser himself designed the uniforms, which were based on the uniforms of the old Leibgarde-regiment of Frederick's day.

If no one were to produce these figures as such, it wouldn't be too hard to take K&C Hessians and repaint them in Prussian colors.

To redhugh, that's not a dunce cap, silly, it's a grenadier cap. What, if it's not covered in fur, you Engländer don't recognize it? ;)

Prosit!

So it is akin to our 3rd Infanry--the Old Guard that wears continental uniforms and has a drum and fife corps.

Or better yet, have the Reich "Night of the Amazons" display!

Honestly, it doesn’t look like SS at all, they look more like Swiss Guards of the Vatican
