Yo Troopers, this superb model By Chas of a 5th Royal Irish Lancer, set I think a new Auction record for a single Chas model of £220 = $335.00. Its painted by Denise Stadden Chas Stadden's daughter, she is a really top artist. Only problem as usual with big money buys of Chas models it creates a false market IE: the next one to come along will sell for less and so on until they come down to the usual price of between £40.00 & £80.00. But of course a Stadden painted will always fetch a premium with collectors. Makes me laugh, when you read some of the threads IE: I dont like ebay or I will never use it, comes mostly from the K&C brigade, but what they forget they have a steady flow of models every month. The rest of us that collect items that are no longer in production ebay is a God send without it we wouldn't be collectors. Anyway roll on the next auction for the 5th Royal Irish Lancer;).
Bernard.

Very nice Bernard and I take it you don't have this figure. Never realized they sold for so little £40-£80 seems cheap to me when you look at what current makers are charging.

Bernard,

I am absolutely gobsmacked by your incredible collection of Chas Stadden models, and you knowledge of the artists who painted these works of art. I completely appreciate your position on ebay. I may be primarily a K&C collector, but I too have a love for an out of production cottage maker - Heco Tinplate Models. More than half of my collection of Heco Tinplate Models comes from scouring ebay for the rare occasions when one of these works of art becomes available, and then hoping I bid enough to win it and add it to my collection.

Yo Scott, yeh you got it right I didn't win it:( I was a bad third of three in the betting lol. I agree some of the Stadden models go cheap, but the Stadden following is nothing like K&C or Britains if it was doubt if I would have had 10 models by now lol IE: once all the main collectors have a certain model of course the price starts to come down. I dont think collectors have cottoned on to the market potential for these superb models yet, I still think when people realise how good they are the prices will start to go through the roof. Having slept on the price for the 5th Royal Irish Lancer, maybe it wasn't over the top, reason its the first one I have seen for sale, plus as I said anything painted by the Stadden family does fetch a higher price. This is the thing collecting Staddens you dont know how many were made or sold back in the 1970s/80s. There are still about 30 Catalogue models I have not seen for sale yet, so some must be very scarce items. Right its breakfast time, then wait till you see what a guy from the states wants to sell. A Chas Stadden ACW Chess set in its original box made in 1985 its stunning, will do a thread on it later, he has only just mailed me and sent photos;).
Bernard.
