Yo Troopers, some information for you on the Chas Stadden set up. Besides the 12 Artist employed at the Twickenham factory or known as Chas Stadden Studios. There were five home painters, Chas always worked from home anyway doing his masterpieces, he was rarely at the factory. Notice the bases are coloured which I believe Chas wanted all his models painted like this, but I suppose being a Director he was out voted due to the cost. It was much more cost effective to do all the bases in black. But all the home painted models always had coloured base except the Canadian model 3rd photo which was specially painted for me by Denise Stadden. Now not saying the Home painters were that much better than the factory painters but I can say this they were top class and hard to better, you can judge for yourself. BTW the home painters always signed their name in full on the model
Photo One. The 8th Hussar painted by Chas Wife Betty Stadden, now Betty is a very modest person, she tells me she thought her Daughter Denise & Jane Ackerman were the best painters, but looking at this model dont see how it could be bettered.
Photo Two. Piper painted by Andy Stadden. Andy tells me this is a rare item painted by himself, he only painted on his holidays when home from college, but Andy is definitely a chip off the old block very talented like his Dad.
Photo Three. Canadian Cadet had this specially painted by Denise Stadden, and probably the only black base painted at the Stadden home. What a talented family they are.
Photo Four. Private Light Company painted by Jane Ackerman. Jane lived next door, and was that good an artist Chas persuaded her to leave her job at the bank where she worked, and work full time for Chas.
Photo Five. American Continental painted by Sue Seymour, Chas met Sue while doing research for his Police models, Sue being married to the Policeman that helped Chas with his research.
Bernard.
