Yo Troopers, parcel arrived three days late, but suppose its better late than never. Was worried had some 20 scarce and rare models.
First the Grenadier & Sutleress made an error on this model it was sculpted by Andrew Stadden and not his Dad Chas, it has Andy's signature incised at the rear of base. This model was made with three options. 1 you could have the Grenadier on his own with Tankard in hand. 2 the Sutleress on her own. 3 the Grenadier & Sutlerss together, but the Grenadier had a different arm fitted when with the Sutleress his left arm touching her shoulder and no Tankard in his hand. So this model I have is a one off trial piece showing the Grenadier & Sutleress together but the Grenadier has the Tankard in his hand as well. There is some confusion as to which firm had the rights to this model which I am not going into now until I know more. BTW I thought the word was SULTRESS but its SUTLERESS. A Sutleress was a soldiers wife, a camp follower, while the men were fighting they would plunder all the loot from the towns, and were allowed by the Army to keep their loot, but of course being War they could end up with as many as 6 Husbands due to casualties (Just love this stuff lol).
The second double figure is a one off trial piece by Buckingham Pewter one of Chas Staddens trade names. The Peeler was only issued as a Buckingham Plain Pewter model on a different base, its a different Peeler than the one shown in my album which was a catalogue item. The flower seller with the Peeler was on general issue via the catalogue. This model was assembled to see how it looked, but they did not like it so it was never issued. BTW both double models are 90mm.
The third model the Beefeater is a 54mm Pawn Chess piece from the Tower of London set. This model was the Master used as a painting guide for the Artist at the Twickenham factory hence no chess base, but its a very rare piece to own.
The Fourth model is a scarce Special made by Chas for the L.A.P.D. not sure how many were made, but they are very hard to come by, and he looks like a guy who takes no nonsense lol.
I will list the rest in the next few days some have to be assembled to take photos of, and of course all will be going for painting by a ex Chas Stadden artist.
Bernard.
