Anyone reading these books by David Glantz? I picked up Volume 2 - Armageddon in Stalingrad Sept-Nov. 1942. The level of detail is fantastic, but have to admit I'm struggling to get through it. The maps are horrible. Going blind trying to make sense of them.

I also purchased Vol. 2. I found it to be a very detailed narrative of the Battle of Stalingrad. I found most of the maps to be helpful in showing the progression of the 6th Army, which a lot of other books have neglected. An overall great book. I must admit that for such a large book, I needed to break it down into small sections, but am still hammering away. I highly recommend this book. It's a new and fresh look at this tremendous battle.

Yeah, well, I'm afraid if he went for sanitized maps, we would never have gotten the books. The way to do it is like back in the day, when maps in a book like this were large 4 color separate sheets inserted in a jacket glued on the endboard. Publishers won't do that nowadays. They'll tell you to just go watch the History Channel. I'm late for my train to the Hamptons.
