I am just finishing up this book on World War I by a German who fought four years in the trenches. Junger does an excellent job describing the action on the Western Front. If your a WWI nut, this is the book for you. What he describes is so horrific. This book is his first person account of all of the small unit action he engaged in based on his diary. I can't believe the risks that were taken every night monitoring the enemy wire. After all of the major battles he was in, it is amazing that he even survived. I highly recommend this book.
