Hi everyone.... although I have now gone to the dark side (collecting metal) I am still enjoying the artistic side of the hobby :) As such I still have a very busy work bench... the latest to leave is this early set of TSSD ACW Union Troops. They were are real pleasure to paint and the face sculpting was just great.

All the best

Nice job! Love the expressions. These figures look like new releases? Chuck:salute::

Your painting is really good. TSSD Union figures have some flaws in accuracy such as the wooden drum canteen and details of the various coats and jackets.

I suggest all the barrel bands on the rifles be steel color. Enfields have brass trigger guards, nose pieces and butt plates, but only repros have brass barrel bands. Painting all the metal steel gives you a Springfield.

Another tip is that since TSSD made the canteen straps with buckles rather than the common issue cloth straps, you can paint the straps "early war" in a leather brown color.

The officer's scabbard can be all steel color as well. NCO scabbards were leather. Your milage may vary with specific units.

The TSSD figures paint up really well. I have ...maybe a hundred or more painted and "color coded" blue and gray.

Thanks for showing your figures.

Hi Scott, thanks for the tips, they were greatly appreciated. I have the Great Coat set just primed so I will keep your tips in my head as I go through them. :)

Loaded up just after midnight as well!

They look great!

The winter set is one of their best. A couple of the figures have rifles with 4 bands that can be fixed.

Hi Jack, it was great to meet in person... I can see you guys have a lot of fun ^&grin. I am going to sell my collection of Britains and start a fresh with the metals.... its a work in progress but I'm enjoying it. I've asked Brett to put away a french artillery set which is now retired. I had hoped to get over their on Friday afternoon but caught up in the bombing incident out at ipswich... anyway I might sneak over on Saturday before he closes up....

regards,
marc
