Now that I have figured out how to resize my pictures for posting on the forum, I thought that I would start a thread on the Sudan Campaign that our group is having using 54mm toy soldiers. Since the majority of my collection consists of Trophy Miniatures, this seems like a good place to post pictures

The British encampment at Dongola on the Nile:

Some Trophy 24th Foot standing in as the Sussex Regiment in red coats:

And some of these modern machine gun thingies ( I hope that they don't jam):

We actually play (wargame) with our 54mm toy soldiers and had our first battle in the Sudan back in July 2016. The Dervish defeated an Imperial Army of two British squares, breaking one square and causing the second square to retreat back to its fortified camp.

Needless to say, Her Highness was not amused upon hearing the news.

The game featured slightly over 600 miniatures (200+ for the British/Imperials and 400+ for the Dervish) and reached a conclusion in around five hours of game time.

I followed that up with a smaller solo game earlier this month (August 2016) in which a reinforced scouting patrol (60 foot and 12 Lancers) defeated twice their number of Dervish in the defense of an oasis in the desert. The near annihilation of the Dervish hoard was welcome news back at Whitehall and restored some of the reputation of the British army in the Sudan.

Our next game will take place on September 17th and will be loosely based on the second Battle of El Teb. I will of course post some pictures of the action at the conclusion of the battle.

Here are some more pictures of Trophy Sudan range figures from our ongoing campaign :

Fantastic.....wargaming on 54mm scale that must be very interesting.....as well as you need a lot of table top/diorama space....do keep us posted, and good luck on the Sept 17th game....TIP take some maxims with you the next time they can do the trick....{sm3}{sm3}{sm3}{sm3}
