When I first heard this was a coming movie had never heard of the comics. As a kid did not grow up reading DC or Marvel comics. My comics were Commando and Sad Sack {sm4}
Saw it with the better half today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Most will probably know the story but basically another version of a The Dirty Dozen or Magnificent 7. Viola Davis (How to get away with murder) is a ruthless Government type who recruits a bunch of evil guys from prison to fight a more evil threat. In addition the Joker also has to be contended with.
As with these types of movie you get the initial selection and recruitment with a bit of background. Will Smith is the paid killer who never misses a shot. Margot Robbie is very good as Harley Quinn the Jokers girlfriend. Her weapon of choice is a baseball bat. Aussie actor Jai Courtney, with an over the top accent, is the bank robber with a useful boomerang. Them there is Croc who is half man half croc, a Japanese girl handy with a sword and a tattooed Mexican guy who is handy if you need something burnt. They join up with a group of Special Forces types led by Scott Eastwood son of Clint.
Batman also makes a few appearances.
The movie got bad reviews from the critics but apparently doing very well at the box office. My daughter has already watched it twice and thinking to go a third time.
Margot Robbie steals the movie and has most of the good one liners. Have seen mention Robbie / Quinn might get her own movie.
One of those movies where you should watch until end of the credits.
Looks like they are planning another.
Wife and I enjoyed it and for me I prefer it to The Avengers or Iron Man type movies.
