Hi Guys,

Yesterday, I was invited to take part in Radio Television Hong Kong's Sunday morning radio show. "Sunday Escape"...

I was also asked to pick a few pieces of music to go along with my talk and selected some favorite 60's songs.

Here's the link... Hope you enjoy it.

All the best,
Andy

* The interview starts from 1:28:16, press 'Play' button and enjoy the radio show.

Yes I did enjoy it Andy. You are a little too modest, it takes two to make things happen and without your support those creative ideas would not have materialised. Interesting about the 'Home Guard', would be nice to see the Vicar, Verger and Hodges which at one time you had intended ^&grin. :salute::, Robin.

Interesting to hear Rod Stewart, Pierce Brosnan, Mike Myers and Phil Collins are collectors.

That’s interesting.
I remember hearing just after John Entwistle died (bassist with ‘The Who’), that he had an extensive toy soldier collection.
I wonder did he ever purchase from K&C?

As was Malcom Forbes,,,son steve couldn't wait to sell the collection after the wake,,

Many years ago I bumped into Robin Williams at a NYC toy soldier shop. Cant remember
the name but it was on Madison Avenue in the downstairs of a bookstore.
We had a short conversation and he bought several sets from the shop.
Also met a famous rapper named Phat Joe at the NJ show in Hackensack. He was with
his younger nephew buying some toy soldiers. I had no idea who he was until I mentioned
his name to my son who was a rap fan at the time.
I'm sure there are other closet collectors among celebrities and politicians.

You can add both Dan Aykroyd (I met his gorgeous wife Donna Dixon buying him a shelf of toy soldiers at Burlington Antique Toys, the same shop you mentioned) and Bruce Springstein (met him at the same shop as well) to the list. Robin Williams was a good friend of fellow collector and all around great guy Doug Luna. Once, when visiting Doug's home, and seeing his amazing collection, which is displayed in large part in Doug's bedroom, Robin jumped on the bed and told Doug he was moving in.

Thanks for sharing Andy!

The last time Mr. Phil Collins was in the shop he purchased what little American Rev we had left.
He's a very kind man and I've been lucky enough to help him several times.
Like many young boys of his generation, he grew up watching the Disney Davy Crockett show which began his love for The Alamo.

I'll never forget the first time he came by the shop! Gordon and I were whispering to each other, "Is that who I think it is?!?!"
I worked up the nerve to walk over and welcome Mr. Collins to the shop!

Great interview Andy!

Many thanks for the kind words Amber and your memories of Phil Collins...I'm really jealous, I'm the only one NOT to meet him!!!
Most of the really nice 'celebs' just want to be treated like everyone else, no special favours.
Over the years we've had quite a few in the HK shop as Hong Kong is one of the great 'crossroads of the world'...I think San Antonio is the same
Very best wishes to yourself and the Guys!
Andy.

I truly commend Andy and his team for the success of King & Country as a premier toy soldier company. I also feel that it is awesome that a collectible store can still be found in a prominent mall. While it is cool that Phil Collins, Rod Stewart, and other celebrities have an interest in toy soldiers, I think we as a community have also contributed to the success. I know that many of us have collected for numerous years and spend thousands of dollars per year eagerly waiting on new releases each month. We continue to offer suggestions and opinions to design and offer pieces that appeal to various collectors and historians. Many of us are even passionate when discussing what should and should not be made into metal figures with the threat of criticism. Perhaps it is just me, but... I feel at times that our community is sometimes under-appreciated. I believe that our loyalty and contributions should also be recognized.

On a side note, I enjoyed hearing the 60s selections in between the interview. Great music indeed!

Respectfully,

Andy,

Terrific interview! The Cream song was an excellent choice, and I loved hearing some of the old stories retold. Look forward to seeing you in Chicago in September.

Andy:

Great stuff, K&C and classic music.

Inside story for some of us, but Rod Stewart with Amy Belle will always remind me of the Westcoaster.

Best,
Jason
