Ok so i'm a bit intrigued by this "King Size" line. It throws up quite a lot of possibilities really.

First a question; I'm not familiar with the forthcoming Motor Gun Carriage. How would it measure up against the Hummel which was a pretty big piece in it's own right?

Second what other pieces of armour/artillery do you think we might see in this line?
A Jagdtiger? An Elefant/Ferdinand?
What other Allied pieces?

The Motor Gun Carriage with the 155 is freakin' huge! I had a Bandai 1:48 scale model of this as a kid, and it dwarfed all my other 1:48 scale models.

I know Andy discussed making a tank transporter as a K&C "Kingsized" vehicle two Chicago Shows ago, so that may be in the future.

Since he recently did the experimental RammJager, maybe he will do one of the huge German experimental late war tanks like the Maus or T100. One of his first polystone prototype vehicles he got as a sample from a factory back in 1997 was a Maus (there are photos of it in the thread about my collection, its closer to 1:35 scale than 1:30).

Wouldn't it be cool if he did a king sized aircraft like a Waco or Horsa Glider, B17, B24, Lancaster or (could you imagine) a B29 (six foot wingspan in 1:30)? We'll have to wait and see.

A Maus would certainly fit the bill plus we know that protoypes actually existed of that one.

I would really like an Elephant/Ferdinand,maybe in Italy or at Kursk?.And as Louis said would love a Horsa for our forthcoming Red Devils,it would be huge!:eek:

Alex, when comes the time to suggest cool and outstanding models, you're the man!

The 80cm-Kanone[E] "Dora", later called (in 1942) "Schwerer Gustav", was the greatest, biggest and is my favorite German railroad gun.

Imagine:

weight, 1350 tonnen;
lenght, 141 foot;
width, 23 foot;
height, 38 foot;
barrel, 106.5 foot;

At a scale of 1:30, it will be: 4.7' x 0,76' x 1,26' x 3,55'. Check out the shipping fees :)

The 80cm gun was completed and ready to action in january 1942 and was send to Army Group South for the siege of Sevastopol.

The 80cm gun fired 48 shells at 7 targets during 5 days. It was the only combat action that it saw.

The heavy artillery unit of the 80cm gun had a total of 500 men and with all the support troops, the total was 3 870 men! To fire a shell, the number of men required was 350!

The 80cm gun was destroyed by the German in 1945.

Pierre.

Hard to give a size reference, but the footprint is that of an M3/M4 medium tank. The originals were made from M3 chassis with Frenck-designed M1918 155mm GPF guns. The project was initially dropped and the vehicles were stored. When the ETOUSA requested 75 of them, the prototypes were refurbished with many M4 components.

So as far as size, look at an M4 series tank for an idea. It's still an imressive vehicle!
