Hi I am looking for good suppliers for the Sudan war of unpainted lead figures 54mm in the UK. Can anybody also recommend which brand and type of paints to use. I am a complete novice in painting lead figures any help and I would be very grateful.

Emmerson,

Off the top of my head Tradition of London come to mind-

There are plenty of older figures available from Stadden, New hope Designs, Cavalier and the like. It might be worth having a look at the cataloues on Mirof's website for more. Keep an eye on E-bay and eventually you will find some.

Regarding paints you can go the traditional oil based paints or newer acrylics. I have found Vallejo and Games workshop acrylics good to paint with and not fumey.

As most figures are kits you will have to familiarize yourself with araldite, files and filler.

Have a look through some of the kit building and painting posts in that section of the forum and don't be afraid to have a go and ask questions.

Yeomanry also has cavalry figures, machine gun sets and heliograph groups. Trooper
