There are many suppliers for diorama materials for the physical layout, like Woodland Scenics, Build-a-Rama, JG Miniatures, and other well know named manufacturers and suppliers. Most of them also produce wonderfull accessories for modern (20th century) battles. But who are the suppliers of diorama materials for the 18th and 19th century in scale compatable with K&C. There are many smaller scale war game suppliers but not much that I could find in 1/32 or 1/30.

Do any of you know of any Napoleonic suppliers for things like wagons, carts, people, buildings, etc.? Britains makes great animals in 1/32, but you either have to get them on eBay or throught their shops in Europe http://www.collectiques.co.uk/.

And, what are the new K&C Napoleonics and when will they be released. :) Michael

Have you seen the Haougamont (I,m sure I butcherd the spelling) building?
I believe George at Minuteman carries it.

I know theres not that munch out there that fits in with napoleonics as far as buildings and such other than the hougomont by cts and the old britains north gate and farm house(the one that looks like la haie sainte) now retired. The britains rep. posted that they would be picking back up on the napoleonics again and with a little luck they,ll make something good again. I always liked the britains north gate. I,ve been experimenting the last two days with plaster to see the possibility of making my own buildings. I made two small brick walls by carving out plaster blocks i poured. I just did them fast to see what the results would be but with alot of patience you can build your own buildings like this and as i have no life so i think i,ll give it a try. Here are some pictures of the quick trial walls i,ve made, there not painted or anything but it,ll give you an idea of the possibilties and food for thought.

Here are a few more pictures. this Time of a plaster plain block i,m going to try to carve into a large brick wall. I used a box that i put plastic wrap inside of to keep it from sticking and cut the box down to the size i wanted the wall to be then poured plaster in and used a stick to level and straighten it out. I,m going to use a ruler and a pencil to lay out the bricks on the plaster block and i,m gonna try my dremel this next time with a cut off wheel to cut the bricks in the plaster block following my pencil marks. The first two walls i just did by eye and with a small hobby file. If this works out I,m going to try and make a mold of the pieces so next time i can just pour the plaster and have an instant wall. I don,t know how durable they,ll be but maybe if i add some metal or brass rod in the plaster they would be a little stronger. The british figures are a couple of metal casts that i painted.

Those plaster walls look just fine Fishhead. Good job!
You guys are right, not many items available for Napoleonic scenery, buildings ect. that are ready to put right on the table.
Historex has many sets suitable but all are plastic kits . Of course we all know of the Lemaxx and other Christmas scenery at craft stores, I have found some very nice 1/32 stonewalls, brick walls and a bunch of barrels and crates.Cheap too.
If you want to display items for Napoleonic Peninsula, there are many many Alamo buildings from assorted manufacturers that are very nice, inexpensive but again you will have to paint them.
Conte claims their line of buildings will be available as single pieces for metal collectors and the thatched buildings from the Warlord village set are very nice.
I do believe there are some suitable items out there, all will require work and paint.

Fubar, great diorama of the Spanish Wars. I guess if I really wanted to keep everything historically accurate, I would use your picture as a model for what I want to do. But, I am not that inclined, so, I will be combining the various ages of Napoleonics that I have managed to get, and hopefully will get in the future thanks to the links that Fishead has supplied. They will be displayed on a diorama that has very little historical accuracy but what I hope looks really cool. I know that some folks would prefer to be accurate, I guess its like mixing the Spanish Civil War with the D-Day invasion but, they are my men and I will change history as I wish just cause I can. :p

Fishhead, That is one amazing diorama of Waterloo you found there! At Chicago I drooled over displays like that one.

The diorama picture is just some of my Barzo and Conte SW style buildings I had done , mainly for just this, Spain, not Texas. I set up a tiny piece of my collection and took a few pix, put away months ago.Never have done an all out display for that theme, always something else to do.I HAD huge painted 15mm armies for Napoleonics years ago, but they all found different homes.

Once a year , around June 18 I put out all my Napoleonics for Waterloo. It keeps growing and now is impossible to fit on my 6 x 12 table but I keep collecting like the true lead addict I am.Heres a shot of a piece of it from last Summer. The Imperial Guard is not there in this image.Had to deploy on a different table on the other side of the room.

Troops are from every maker you can think of including eeegads plastics I converted and painted hundreds of.Frontline,Britians,Niena, yep even a few KCountry in there too.

Have 10 Russian 1812 Grenadiers that will be available as KITS by this summer I hope. That is if I dont go further into lunacy and keep the 1st couple thousand.I like converting and making poses, assembly and all that, painting is getting harder!

WOW!!! That looks great! Thats kind of what i,d like to do in the future when i have the time and the space. Maybe when i get out of this apartment and get my own home and have the extra space. I don,t know if i would post a picture after seeing the great job you did on yours. My talents are not up to yours but the more you do something the better you get and you,ll never do anything if you don,t try and besides even if something you did yourself dosn,t look quite as good as someone elses you had the fun and learning ex. of haveing done it yourself and the next one will be a little better so i guess i will continue to show my hack work:D . Keep up the awsome work and please keep posting your pictures of that work as i love to seeing it as i,m sure others do also.

I too love seeing Fubar's pics. Awesome dioramas. Keep posting pics. :)

Those are really nice, I have only been collecting K&C so my collection is a tad mit smaller....:)

One more image from 2004, with several of the buildings we were talking about all on the field.
CTS and Britians Hougomont, 2 of the Conte 1066 thatched buildings and in the distance the farm building and wall from one their WW2 Normandy playsets.

I have many ACW earthworks , redoubt, gun pit pcs and had been considering a Badojoz or another similar siege during the peninsular wars.Barzo Conte, formtech alamo and SW buildings and wall sections seem perfect but have never donemuch more than think about setting up a battle.

Ever have that feeling of being a bit player in the play of life. Man oh man, what a set up. Fubar, and I am sure you posted the meaning of your name somewhere else on this forum, you are not as your name suggests. You are the opposite. What a series of great dioramas you have. :) :) Michael

Oh yeah, Fubar, I like the way you have integrated the Britains North Gate set with the Formtech Hougoumount set. I was looking at the new 1/30 wall sets that JG Miniatures makes. I am trying to integrate all my stuff, and any new into something that resembles this http://www.hovelsltd.co.uk/european 25/hougoumont/hougamap.html. A picture of the complete 25mm set is on this link http://www.hovelsltd.co.uk/hougomont25.html. 25mm seems to have a great deal of buildings from the 17th and 18th century. Too bad its not 60mm. :( Michael

And, you know .... Napoleonics. :)

Fubar, Fishhead - wow. I am amazed by those shots. Wow.

How about this? It's a little fancifull/theatrical but so is the guy who makes them for me...

Freimann2.JPG

THe light bleached the color out a bit - it is actually much more vibrant.

The guy who makes those for Gideon is fantastic. He used to be a set designer for Broadway, and he has made several really remarkable buildings and other diorama pieces. One of my favorites was a ruined medieval tower with a tent pitched in side being used as a Napoleonic command center, complete with map table, camp stool, and other great details. Plus, as they are made from cardboard and papier mache, they really remind me of early K&C buildings. You really should check them out!

I just started work on my larger piece of plaster block carving it out to make a hougomont style wall. It takes awhile to carve it out but i,m going to try and make a mold when i,m done and if I get any good at this i,ll try and make a 1/32 hougomont complex it should only take the next 20 years:p . I think these walls will look pretty good when all painted up and some flogging added to the base and maybe some moss growing on it and a few loop holes cut in.

You are sculpting these? Are going to do a production run? I think you should if they are yours. They are really well done wall sections.
