I'd be interested to know what people think of the ranges of painted plastic figures by Supreme ?

Ok nice paint jobs....But i was referring to there as sold product...Oversized PVC copies of Italeri and a few metals i think!

All I can say is that they are producing factory painted historical figures which are being sold in Toy Shops and bought by kids - which is what the hobby needs to survive.

The attitude quoted is why I think the hobby in general will be on it's last legs within the next 15 years.:(

and from King & Country Crusaders... They're a little bit hard to find by there (France), but very good for conversion.
The Arabs on camel have been painted by a member of my forum. Another member mixs (melt?) Supreme and broken Elastolin:

The guy blowing on the horn is good looking... what do you think? The two others are conversions too.

Two others Supremes, Medieval Russians

Very nice paint jobs!

I like the little house with the wheel against the wall. Did you build it?

I was thinking of the bags and buckets O' soldiers, police, cowboys etc. when I wrote "Good piñata stuffings." My brother thought it would be funny to stuff a piñata with the cheepo army men on my last birthday.

A fair point from the moral high ground - but will plastic versions of metal figures really do the metal sales any harm?... and Italeri have stopped making the figures which have been copied...

They have been called 'junk' - given the original figures eg K&C and Italeri get nothing but praise I'm not sure how that works? That they actually paint up rather nicely has been demonstrated with photos here. My repainting of the Napoleonic Russian Artillery got lots of positive comments when it appeared in a game at Warfare last year.

I would certainly say the figures are actually excellent beneath the garish paint job. Critics don't seem to have looked deeper than that paint to see the potential of the actual figure. The camels and horses are not so good, that I would accept, but the figures - look again!

Tiger Hobbies import them in the UK (http://www.tiger-hobbies.co.uk/toysoldierrange.htm) and sell them for pocket money prices because they are aimed at the kids, as someone has pointed out. The latest 2 sets, Napoleonic British and French infantry and cavalry have just arrived for review and IMHO again they will paint up very well and at GBP£5.99 they should sell well too!
