Here is my new dio fellows. I put the Russian Hetzer into a "Liberation of Budapest "dio. We are January 1945. The Russians are advancing towards the city centre of Budapest. The TGM Russian Hetzer is giving support to K&C Russian sloggers. On the wall of the ruined building you can see a commercial poster from the 40thies praising a very popular Hungarian Champagne called "Törley" The weather is fine, cold,sunny and no snow.
On the pavement you see a late 1944 "Signal" magazine. The Germans left in a hurry and abandonned a cart loaded with a basket, some hay (probably for the horse that pulled the cart) and a suitcase, in all probaility spoils of war.The sign post says "city center" and "Rákóczi út" is one of the main avenues in Budapest. There is also an indication that shows the presence of the 3th SS Totenkopf Panzer Div.
Some history: The battle for Budapest lasted 102 days, it started on the 29th December 1944 and ended on the 13th Febuary 1945. Marshal Rodin Malinovski and General Tolbuchin surrounded the city completely on the 26th of Dec 1944. They found some stiff opposition in the 13th Panzer Division, the Feldhernnhalle Panzer Grenadier Division, the Florain Geyer SS cavalry Division and the 22nd Freiwilligen Cavalry Division Maria Theresa. Also in the combat zone were the 3th SS Totenkopf Panzer Division and the 5th SS Wiking Panzer Division. More than 80% of the buildings in Budapest were either completelydetroyed or heavily damaged.
guy:)Enjoy the pics

I love your attention to accuracy and detail....... Keep up the good work. .......Great Job !. Alex

Very nice. I like the darker coloring of the armor. -- Al

By the way, the title of the thread in Hungarian means " Attack on the city centre" forgot to mention this, sorry,
guy

The Hetzer looks good Guy, im assuming you done some additional weathering on the vehicle? As mentioned on your other thread, your dio is awesome and i can only imagine how much time and effort that has gone into creating all the little bits of detail. I am currently building a Bulge dio and the detail i am putting into it is no where near as much as yours but it's still taking a while to put it together.

Guy,
Your always excellent dios are just that little bit better with a suitable backdrop mate.....{bravo}}
Wayne.

Wonderfull stuff Guy...You never cease to amaze me how you manage to put so much detail into such a small space!!!.

Superb dio Guy and interesting subject matter. I really appreciaite your attention to detail. :cool:

Not sure I would call it a liberation, probably occupation is more accurate.

For the street road, damaged building, lamp post and half wall in the dio, are they custom built by yourself ? {sm3}

No, they are a revamped MiniArt building and cobbled street. The lamppost is a very old Tamiya one. The half wall is part of the MiniArt building but heavily worked on;

if you mean the half wall behind the Hetzer well, that's a very, very, very old Verlinden plaster wall bought over 30 years ago. Hence my motto " Never throw anything away, one day it might come in handy" this was the case with this half wall, a left over from a dio I made when I was young !!!!!!!!

Thank you for sharing... {sm3}

Chaps,
I received an e-mail asking me if it was possible to show more of the details I put into the dio . I tried with my own camera to capture a few . My philosophy when making a dio is : "every square inch has to tell a small story"
here are a few pics:
the suitcase on the ground next to the hay and the broken cart wheel and the Signal Magazine, the knocked over plant on the 1st floor of the building, the sign indicating the presents of the Totenkopf Division and the inside of the building - the doorway .
Thanks for the shown interest
