Hi everyone,

allow me to add some more pictures of my own collection. I'd appreciate it.
I'm waiting for your opinion.

Best regards

Enrico :)

A nice Bulge collection that you are building; nice frosting feeling.

I see that I am not the only one to try an aquarium as a TS display case.
They are really cheep, pretty solid and keeps out 99% of dust and fingers (or paws!)

I think this is a good solution and a good compromise...

Thanks a lot for your opinion.

Hi Enrico,

I'm amazed by your collection. You've got a diverse and fantastic collection of K&C. I did not realize you were using aquariums - that's a great idea! One question, do you turn them upside down or cover the top?

Morning W.O.

I have 6 (various sizes) aquariums that I use to house displays.

The aquariums also vary in construction methods and of course price.
Most of mine are right-side-up, i.e. with the opening at the top. That way you can get some Plexiglas, make an opening or two for the installation of lighting as needed. A few I turn upside down.

You have to look a bit carefully at the construction of the bottom framing of the tank, to make sure it is not to wide, which would talk away from your display if you turn them upside down.

Don't go to a Pet or fish store to purchase them as you will find they charge a lot more than a Walmart, a Big Lot, a Target or any Big Box stores. I generally find real cheap aquariums at yard sales or flea markets. A lot of "kids" start out thinking an aquarium is fun, but lose interest fast. Then Mom and Dad want to sell it off.

You can also find then at florist or plant stores, as they are a favorite for building a terrarium or garden scene. Florist shops also have a collection of neat diorama stuff

In addition, you might pick up some interesting tank scenery that can be used as a jungle display or rocks or who knows what.
Generally, I pay between $8 - $20 for a tank at a store; maybe $5 at a yard sale that includes a lot of other stuff.

If you leave them top side up then any hardware store can cut a piece of Plexiglas or real glass. I tend to like shelf glass as it is generally unbreakable, doesn't scratch, is cheap and stays clear over time.

Please let me know if you have any questions, WO, or anyone for that matter.

Dear Rob,
I can't keep your compliment, you deserve it more than me. I’ve appreciated your collection and your terrific pictures. I’d like learning how to do… One day, perhaps, I’ll able to be to do it. First of all, let me try and explain how it “works” in my home. I’m out of room in my house! I am exploring every remedy available, but you have to understand, dear mate, that I’ve got about 900 K&C pieces and I should look out for an “army” of 4000 soldiers !!! I should, if could but I can’t for all. So, I’ve started to look for something in order to allow in the fitting of these “devices”. Now, I shall try to answer your questions as fully as possible. I’m just using the display cases (chinese production) of various sizes (316mmLx276mmW x 136nnH, for example). I put always toy soldiers on the bottom, then I cover the top of the case, as can you see in this picture below. I’ve paid them on amazon between € 10 - € 30. But… I’ve just run out of ideas!!! The acquarium, by our mate Larry, is the best solution!!!
Keep in touch if you have to ask me anythinks. If I can, I’ll answer more.

Best regards
Enrico :)

Wow! Thanks for the info, Larry. I even had an old fish tank a few years back that I gave away. Never thought about using these for dios. Great idea!

Thanks Enrico, but your collection and displays are incredible. I feel like a novice compared to you and many of the other collectors here on the forum. Thank you for the aquarium idea. Now I want to go look at aquariums! :smile2:
