Remembered this movie from a Kevin Bacon interview. Saw it for the first time and no matter what your opinion is of the Afghan or Iraqui wars, this ought be a must see. Well done, thought provoking look of a KIA soldier being escorted home. True story of a real hero...Michael

I saw this movie and it really got to me seeing a young man's family devastated by the loss of this fine young man.

This has been discussed before, on a couple threads, but I think that it was the best movie that I have seen in a long, long time IMHO. I have had two brothers die serving our country, one during Viet-Nam and I remember my mom getting the telegram from a cab driver a-la "We Were Soldiers" and then years later, the Air Force blue sedan pulling up to the house.
Taking Chance brought up a lot of emotions. Great movie.

Thought Bacon was superb. The movie was heartbreaking. -- Al

Very PATRIOTIC movie...Bacon was outstanding as always...he kills military roles...his face and physique are perfect for them...A Few Good Men.

It was a while ago. I don't know how long the threads are archived. I think that this movie deserves to be brought up from time to time.

Ken Burns made a statement before when comparing WW2 to our modern era, he basically was saying that today's military families live their lives in isolation from the rest of society, and they suffer that same way. A very tear-jerking movie to portray what families have to go through and give a taste to the general public what it's like. The scenes where the airport workers would stop to salute the fallen soldier, and the general respects paid by people who paths they crossed, I hope those parts were true actual events, a breath of fresh air in a world of self-centeredness and indifference towards others.
