TSSD will have a new WW2 Playset at OTSN. TARAWA.{ Carlos, reinforcements for your Pacific theme!}They'll be posting more images PDQ.The prototype Japanese figure is awesome.I like the Marine too, but the Sendai!
Those of you attending and who like plastics and playsets are going to have so much fun! Barzo no doubt will have anew set as well.Wow, at least 4 new playsets all at one show!
Have fun!!!!!!!!!

Well picking up four new sets. Maybe I will just get bags of figures. that will be rough to choose all four when I am running out of space. Someone I know would probably bury them in yard or worse bury me in yard.Maybe I should get one of those rental storage places and "visit" my stuff there. Leadmen

Leadmen...

Bagged figure sets are a great way to build up armies...particularly if you happen to paint your 'guys'. However, I'd not count on finding any bagged sets of the new figures at OTSN. I'm not offering any inside information -- heck, I'm in Iowa for gosh sakes, not exactly the center of the toy soldier universe -- but it sounds to me like the figures from both Conte and TSSD remain in very short supply. I'd expect very few of the Conte playsets to be available, and likely no bagged/boxed/bubbled figure sets. And DEFINITELY no painted plastic sets yet.

And since Nick did mention on his own website that the TSSD Japanese soldiers were so late in being completed that he had to FLY some of them into the US to have the sets done in time. Given the expense of flying rather than shipping, I'd bet he brought a bare minimum over that way.

I've not seen any 'official' announcement that there will even be a Barzso playset or any figure sets. In fact, the Barzso website hasn't been updated for more than six months.

So all we know for certain -- reasonably certain -- is that TSSD will have 120 Tarawa playsets, not knowing if all 120 will be in Schaumburg, but would think so. We 'know' that there will be two Conte 'Bloody Omaha Beach' playsets introduced there...but if you aren't one of the first to pick one up, you may have to do online ordering later.

We've been 'assured' via Playset Magazine that there will be a 'surprise' playset unveiled, from a 'new' producer. I've seen nothing more about that since it was teased in the last PM issue.

And MAYBE there will be something from Barzso.

I don't think that many will be driving home from OTSN with FOUR new playsets, and don't know if any will have picked up new bagged sets.

Just guessing...(o;

Terry- I am more interested in the bags of figures to paint.I asked Nick if I had to reserved the new bags like last year the GI's and winter Germans that he had for me.Nick said no problem this year and don't have to reserve any.I have no idea what Barzo will have and no confidence in any Conte stuff.I know last year Barzo's big Ticondaroga fort was neat but was told I would be living in yard with it if it came home. Fubar,

As I said in another thread, I've seen this playset a couple of months at TSSD and it's a great value for what you're getting. LVTs, tanks, TSSD original Marines and Japanese, Plam Trees and lots of accessories.

Playset collectors are going to LOVE THIS! Check it out for yourself.

The TSSD marine and Japanese figures are going to be fantastic, so far as I can tell. I've seen the marines and had a chance to look at pics of the Japs, which seem particularly well done. Nice thing about the marines is that they can be supplemented with BMC marines and TSSD's G.I.'s - they're all made in the same marine green color and are very compatible size wise. Converting G.I.'s into marines isn't all that hard, if you're not too fussy. Just cut off the short bayonets on two of the G.I. figures and voila! Marines. The pose variation with all 28 figures is fantastic; then some of the specialty marine poses TSSD has crafted (the guy fighting with bayonet and shovel, for instance, which everybody can see on their web site now) really make sense. At the price this playset's going to be offered at (up to Nick to say what it will be), it's a terrific value, in my opinion. The accessories sound great, too. What makes a Pacific theme really nice this year is the addition of CTS's new Jap fortification foam pieces, which I gather George of Minutemen Toy Soldiers will have at the show, so you can really expand upon TSSD's set if you want to. Really. really exciting.

I can promise people Ron Barzso WILL have a playset at OTSN, as he does every year, and it will be superlative - in my judgement, one of the best playsets he's ever offered!

Well, I'm all excited about the new toys and figures.I've got some Marines 1/2 done that have been lying around for a few years and I think I'll finish those and see if I can't add the camo duck hunter camo to the 2 sets of Britians pack howitzer crews{ great idea Carlos, I'll duplicate that one}

I've been busy casting Napoleonic figures and havent touched a paint brush in several months.Time to fianlly clear off the wargames table and get the Pacific troops out again.I havent rerally felt too much like painting, but seeing the TSSD Jap engarde has really bit me good.Plus, WINDTALKERS was on the tube last nite .Now, I'm getting that old enthusiasm back.

My bloods also up for some new weapons.Somewhere around here I have an unbuilt Tamiya Jap 75mm SP gun.Time to dust that one off.My boys old enough, maybe I'll put him to work at least assembling it !!!!

I think this image pretty well sums up my sentiments regarding the war in the Pacific.Airfix multipose figures.

Now that the Tarawa set is official, that will cause more dollars to be spent in Georges or Matts room for supplemental Pacific bunkers etc.
It never ends, but I love it.

Boy, do I hate it when a manufacturer rolls out a major playset at a show and I just happen to have loads of new Pacific bunkers, pillboxes, etc to supplement the set............:D

I have three complete sets of all 14 (that's right, 14) of the terrain features CTS has included in their Iwo Jima playset. I've got two custom painted sets and one set of factory painted pieces, with more in route to me at the show that are factory painted.

Between Conte, TSSD and Ron B, that makes four brand new playsets that will be available, plus the "mystery" set that will be rolled out there. Just when you thought all the new stuff was going to be metal figures and resin vehicles, this happens.

This show is going to be a blockbuster...............

Thank you Carlos, Now we can see the figures better ans I for one like what I see! Troops look splendid and my painting blood is up.
I also like the Knocked out Sherman scene.Looks great! Good work! Thanks Nick and Deanna!

Have a great time at the big show you guys!
For the rest of us that couldn't make it there, please pass the kleenex.

Cheers for the first sighting Carlos.

The set looks awesome. Another one to try and get before bankruptcy sets in.

I saw this playset last night and its very tempting. Too bad it won't fit in my suitcase. I'm going buy some bagged figures instead.
