don't know where you live...or how they celebrate where you do live...
but last night...here in Texas...fools celebrating the 4th of July went overboard...discharging their guns for several hours...
coupled in with the fireworks show...
it reminded me of the videos of the Shock & Awe campaign over Baghdad in the Gulf War...
seems like everybody in Galveston was discharging their semi autos, rifles and pistols in the air...
easy to differentiate from the fireworks...lots of rowdies had the urge...
my poor dog was in a state of panic all night...trembling all night til they finally stopped...

Where I live, sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between fireworks and groundfire.

The nitwits that lit the fireworks at our annual block party coated everones cars on the street with the shreds from the fireworks, that never happened before, I think the companies that make them are making them cheaper, so they don't go up as high and this is the result.

It's not a State issue, IMO. The 4th brings out the patriots and, sadly, the crazies also. In all 50 states.
I feel bad for the pets (please keep your old mini-schnauzer safe! sorry he had to go through that - we had a female who shook herself sick at every pop), and I feel worse for Vets with PTSD. They don't need to relive incoming fire.
The fireworks can be as scary as shells fired into the air... unless the bullets come down where they shouldn't. Here we have a guy who lets his loud pistol off until past midnight for the week before & after the 4th. Responsible? Not really. Hope these trigger-happies are sober{sm2}.
Still Better than the recent problems very near where I live, for sure.
So I rate it as annoying, (unless you are my last female mini-schnauzer) rather than terrible.
I wish you and your family well! Avoid the crazies - we have to here as well. And everywhere.

I don't mind a few but they kept it up for 5 hours. My poor cats we scared to death.I live in a rural area so we have no organized fireworks.I don't know how people have so many.
