Forum Squadron Members,

I just started doing a little homework on the Sturmpanzer. I was reading the TGM description of this outstanding set but there was no mention of its involvement during the Ardennes/Bulge conflict. I recall reading about its involvement but I know too well I probably need to go a few levels deeper to satisfy myself. Please take a look at the link below then a few paragraphs down. Based on the information, this set would indeed fit into that conflict. Would love to hear from our German Armored Warfare aficionados. I guess everything usually comes down to the Order Of Battle! Thanks for reading.

Sturmpanzer-Abteilung 217 [only formed 6 months before] was the only Brummbar unit to see action in the Battle of the Bulge, 31 vehicles and advanced on Dec 19th 1944 but they never got further than St Vith and after which they were in constant retreat, surrendering in the Ruhr Pocket. They took a real hammering in Normandy, I have 1 of both TG Brummbar and they are great, see picture below of a Brummbar in the Ardennes Jan 1945, that is Major Eberhard Lemor standing in front of the Brummbar. It would probably be more realistic to use the camo version, as they were not whitewashed during the battle. I have the whitewashed in a dio with 3 winter TG Panzer IVs, some warpark winter figures and a TG truck and the camo version in a Normandy diorama with some K & C vehicles, figures and buildings. Good book is from Panzerwreck - Combat History of Sturmpanzer-Abteilung 217. If Major Lemor leg looks a bit strange that is because he has a plaster cast on his broken leg which he broke before the battle, he survived the war and and joined the post war German army, ironically his final posting was as a staff officer to Brussels. See other picture of Brummbar in the same period.

Thank you for posting the photo images and added historical information as it was appreciated.
