So I was on eBay UK tonight looking to see if I could find one if the German DD Machine Gun Bunkers with the Indian soldier didn't MG and came across 2x sets I never thought I'd get. Two Arnhem'44 Sets:

AN09 - Supplies

AN10 - Attack Jeep

In this current climate retired/discontinued sets do not seem to be holding their value much. I remember seeing the supplies set go for about $900 odd dollars like 5-10 years ago and thought 'Jeez, I'll never get that one!'

Well tonight I saw these two sets for Buy it Now: £250 each
Now in today's market that is still quite a lot of cash for these two items so I had a look at the sets and they were minty with boxes and certificates so I had a think...

I noticed that the 'Make an offer' option was there too...and I went for it!

Offered the seller £150 on each set!

I then sent them a message explaining that I was an avid collector and that it's a shame how the market has went and how I've recently been selling items at a loss, but to be honest once you've had your fun out of something, is selling at a loss a bad thing? I don't think so but each to their own, anyway...I explained how I would pay £300 for both sets together and awaited a reply. Thought it would be tomorrow or Monday at latest but...

Within 10 minutes the seller accepted the supplies offer but made a counter offer of £195 for the jeep. I had a think and it seemed fair to let the seller have a good solid £300 for their sets as they were offering free postage whixh was good of them but I felt £195 was a little too much (maybe this was selfish but was just how I felt). Anyway I decided to make a counter offer of £175. I waited anxiously for the seller to reject or accept thinking that it would most likely be tomorrow and BOOM!

Seller accepts and I now have 2 more of my Arnhem'44 Sets. Only one more left to complete the collection!

Quite a happy chappy just now!😁

well done Scott!
Andy.

Your patience has paid off. Well done. Sooner or later good items crop up on eBay and you can get a deal, particularly on part sets sometimes, when you didn't want to buy all the set when it was released ( eg when you only like one or two figures out of a set of 4) .

Thanks mate! Definetly haha! Patience is a virtue Haha!😎

Well done on your sets pickup. Yep when you see sets you want you've got to go for them and depending on what it is and how much.
As you say prices seem to have dropped on some sets, others people are still hanging on to high prices hoping for a recovery sooner than later like a seller on ebay uk who whacks his prices up and keeps them up, but sets still eventually seem to disappear from his listings, presumably sold.

That is an interesting question, Scott ... :rolleyes2:

Like many collectors (I suspect) I started off collecting many ranges, mainly K&C ... they were all so wonderful.

I quickly discovered, albeit sadly, that I could not financially keep up with the flow of releases that occurred each month. So I had to choose those ranges that meant the most to me and I had some connection with.

To no ones surprise, that was the K&C AWI series. I have a very healthy collection thanks to Andy's long run on both the AR series as well as the BR series.
Unlike your dilemma, I did have at least one of each release. However, you can't have one, or two or three guys marching nor can you have a firing line of two figure. So my issue became to hunt down and find "copies" of each figure.

The caveat however was ... the price ....{sm2}
Even today some folks try to get 3X - 5X or more the original price.

Luckily, going to T.S. shows with George (Minutemen) and skulking about eBay has been successful to most degree.
Still the hunt for British Mounted Dragoons, Colonial Militia, the second release of the Colonial Marines goes on.

It is good to hear of your persistence and success!

"I always find myself going back to the desert."

Make sure you bring plenty of water when you go.

"Luckily, going to T.S. shows with George (Minutemen)..............."

Not sure I'd use "luckily" and "going to T.S. shows with George" in the same sentence.................:wink2:

I would, considering that I have 3 patients that require 24/7 care ....
Looking forward to such a nice and restful 4 days .....:p

"Doctor Howard, Doctor Fine, Doctor Howard .....

For me it would be the D-Day range of British figures. My favourite set being "Tommy Patrol". My regret is not getting the Firefly at the time of its release.
