My postman here in Essex must have been just a few minutes behind yours! Thank you for posting the images from The 2011Summer catalogue, however some collectors whose interests may not have been addressed in its pages might be interested in the following quote from the forward.

"For those of you looking for additions to your favourite ranges from World War I and II to the American Revolution and the USMC Collection, additions to those and more are in the works for early 2012, with more catalogs to follow later this year and next".

I got my copy today as well and I must say I am absolutely blown away by the new Napoleonic sets and individual soldiers.
Absolutely magnificent. ^&grin
The sculpting is fantastic on the death of Ponsonby set and the taking of the 105th eagle set.
Also a dead horse {eek3} and French Fusiliers with the promise of lots to come.... it just gets better and better.
It would be a good idea for other manufacturers to look at WB pricing as well. IMO they are keeping their prices reasonable unlike some other manufacturers. Not cheap but reasonable.
Well done to the WB.
This is where my money is going.
Paul

Thanks,

My wallet just let out a huge sigh of relief !!!

Nice releases though and we still have all of our new Zulu figures to look forward to.

Possible marketing ploy for all those Nile & Zulu collectors by not having any new releases after the current awaited Sept ones, to budget for the Nile boat in the next quarter instead, well it works for me anyway. As much as I was disappointed about nothing to look forward to in the next 3 months, after buying the boat I will have no money left over anyway. Cheers, Robin.

Just received mine today which was nice. Full page ad for the Model Zone exclusive announcing December 2011 release (nice Christmas present to myself :D)

These Napoleonic sets are very well done.
Great job, Britains {bravo}}

The September issue of The Standard is excellent. For ACW afficianados the "Baptism at Manassas" article is first rate. We get a study of that opening battle and a glimpse of the new mounted officer figure and Virginia Infantry adorned in their early war regalia. They are well done and should be a perfect compliment to an early war depiction through 1862. The Collectors Club 1st Virginia Cavalry trooper is also profiled with a last paragraph disclosure that more general release dismounted figures are going to be on the market prior to the end of 2011. I hope that the roll outs compliment this great figure to give the 1861 1st Manassas 150 year anniversary treatment a decided cavalry flair since it was the 1st Va. Cavalry that executed an epic charge against the flank of the 11th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment (Ellsworth's Fire Zouaves) that hot July day to help seize control of the fight to the Rebels. The article continued with a disclosure that more mounted figures are planned for 2012. Thank you Richard and Ken. My pleas have been heard. I patiently await your next releases.

Richard,
Any chance we'll see some 11th NY Fire Zouaves to go against the 1st Va Cav and 33rd?

Travis

I hope that WB continues with their 150th ACW anniversary theme for 2012. In other words a couple of solid rollouts for each side for the year would be to observe some of the epic fights of 1862. I am partial to McClellan's ill fated Peninsula Campaign culminating in the epic Seven Days Battles including the critical fight at the Battle of Gaines Mill. Two compelling actions were the attempt by the 1st South Carolina Rifles to capture a Massachusetts artillery battery only to be repulsed by the 5th New York Zouaves. The gallant South Carolinian's took massive casualties in this encounter. Late in the day the 5th US Cavalry made an ill fated charge at Hood's Texas Brigade and was throughly bludgeoned in that effort. Both are worthy of getting some attention on the table of Mr. Osen and into the inventory of WB's acclaimed ACW line. Trying to not be too cavalry centric (my own selfish bias) as there is lots of unit specific texture to the whole of 1862 that allows for incredible colorful unit variations to be depicted. Quite simply 1862 is a treasure trove of contrasts that are slowly but methodically erased as the conflict drags on into more drab and somber tones particularly after the Gettysburg campaign of mid 1863.

Just left the Treefrog shopping site and decided to click on the WB catalog thread. The 2011 Winter rollouts featuring Napoleonic Cavalry i.e. British 1st Royal Dragoons and French 3rd Lancers is astounding. A visual treat of well sculpted, masterfully painted and crafted 3 dimensional art...the essence of what this hobby is about. If you are a Napoleonic historian/collector you have to be extremely excited about the sets of six figures each. Made collectible by their limited run of 500-600 figures depending on the particular product I can just wish for WB to do the same with ACW cavalry. Richard/Ken: Imagine a line of say the 6th Pennsylvania Cavalry "Rush's Lancers" circa 1862 resplendently mounted and armed with their red pennant topped 10 foot lances dashing up the back trails of northern Virginia or now armed with Sharps Carbines, Colt 44 horse pistols and 1860 light sabres making a gallant but doomed charge at St James Church during the Battle of Brandy Station June 1863. Visualize the vaunted 1st North Carolina Cavalry "Stuart's Tar Heels" (for that matter the splendid Georgia cavalry of Cobb's Legion, Wade Hampton's stellar 1st South Carolina or the Jeff Davis Legion composed of the best horsemen that Mississsippi and Alabama could muster) countercharging up the slopes of Fleetwood Hill later that same day at Brandy Station. Basements, hobby rooms and man caves all across this land are waiting for the definitive line of mounted ACW figurines that take into account historical accuracy and context in the same vain that you have treated the Nap's collectors around the world to. You want a future home run rollout this is it.
