The 8th Army is here, check it out! (1 Viewer)

I can't get the site to open. Perhaps too many people are trying to access it. I'm sure Shannon will have photos in due course.

I hope these help.

Wow those sets look great, I'm definitly liking the Indian Army Machine Gunner. Thank you for posting those pictures up.

Great looking sets, I see on K and C,s website the dingo is in New Zealand markings, i,ve got to admit i,m pretty rapt about that :D .
I didnt think i would get to see a kiwi unit depicted other than the LRDG,
Which i have very little chance of ever getting hold of.

Even for a Napoleonic collector the are EXCELLENT....I'm sooo jealous....Good job Andy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........:) :)

WELLINGTON

AS ALWAYS.....

VERY impressive. Even though I am hard-core on ETO GIs, I have found the desert campaign interesting. Many nations represented, different uniforms, etc. I wish I could afford these.

:) WOW! Andy, keep more N. Africa Sets Coming! *the 8th ARMY--MKIII CRUSADER TANK--------M-3 GRANT TANK-----M-3 HONEY ( Light )TANK-------6-POUNDER Gun Team----Mortar team------WOUNDED-(Stretcher Team)----Lots More Scottish, British, and Aussie Infantry! Also, LRDG -SAS GROUP-"Attacking"

WOW Andy these sets are awesome........When will we be able to get our hands on them in UK?

Monty

The K & C site says mid May but I hope they're available for pick up by the time of the Valley Forge show in Pa. in early May.

Artistically, these are much better than most of the recent AK sets. From my perspective, the sculpting is in line with the BoB sets. However, I think the AK sets must have been sculpted a long time ago because I just don't think they're quite that good. For example, the Rommel figure in the Greif doesn't look anything like him and is certainly not as good as the WS 34.

I don't collect WW2 stuff but I truely think that the AK stuff is the best looking of all the era...my opinion only of course. The sculpting and paint are excellent...it has almost made me turn to the dark side. If I was a collecter of this era I'd be all over the sets likes flies on @#%$!!!!!!!

Cheers

Andy,

When I saw them at the West Coaster a month ago I thought they were beautiful and I still do. I can't wait to get them and pit them against your AK series.

Oh wait, they good guys are out gunned. Oh no, Andy, Andy, were's the amour? Time to buy some more 25 Pounder's and alot more of them. LOL

Just kidding, they are great and hopefully they sell like "hot cakes" so it will incent you to produce some British armour next year or sooner. What kind? Well I won't go into that, the world gives there opinions on what everyday.

Carlos

Around the West Coaster, there was some talk of a mid summer surprise for
8th Army so I'm hoping it is armor.

I think the new Rommel figure is an improvement over the WS 34 (facial features) although I agree with Brad that the likeness in the new Rommel figure leaves room for improvement. I would like to see a well sculpted single Rommel figure. Something like Rommel in his dark trench coat with tarter scarf would probly sell well if it were well sculpted.

The new Alexander figure has a very good likeness to the man. In my opinion, the best sculpting of the personality figures is the Montgomery figure. The sculptor really nailed this one in every detail. You could show this figure naked and you would still know it was Monty.

As far as the rest of the sculpting for the new AK sets, I think they are some of the best that K&C has done. They are superb in every detail. I especially like the versatility of the AK28 set. I just ordered a second set of these to use individual pieces in other dioramas. The 10.5 artillery piece and the other vehicles are exceptionally well crafted.

My only disappointment with the new 8th Army sets is that there is only one vehicle in this release. I was hoping for more. I hope you're right Brad about an 8th Army surprise for this summer. I would hate to wait 3 years for more 8th Army (and for that matter Afrika Korps) sets to be released.

Semper Fi!

I hope I didn't come off to critical of the sculpting. I think the AK series from AK 11 on and the EA series are the best sculpting Andy has ever done. There's not a bad one in the bunch. I just thought that the new EA sculpting was better than the new AK sculpting.

Like Rick, I'm hoping that we don't have to wait a long time again for AK and EA releases. I think they will prove popular and I've put money where my mouth is and started saving for these releases when announced back last year.

Rick,

I agree with you on the overall quality of the AK set, its tops. The Rommel’s likeness you may be right on, but to me it's not a big deal. Montgomery, you’re spot on about.

I did buy AK28 (Questioning the Prisoner) just to complete the line. I’ve since grown to like it more because of its flexibility in various scenes. I agree with you there.

I’ve already written about my great fondness about artillery and especially about the AK 27 (10.5c German Field Guns). Call me crazy (I am) I have three of them (2 on display and the other pack away in the closet).

Brad,

I agree that AK series from AK11 onward, is were the quality truly begins for this KC theme. However Brad, you may be splitting hairs in declaring that EA series is better quality than the AK series. No problem, that is why this whole collecting thing is fun and it is true what they say, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. LOL

As I’ve said before, I hope this series and especially the EA series are financially successful for KC. This would allow the necessary EA series to include armor and other favorite commonwealth vehicles mentioned countless times by other collectors on this forum. In the mean time, I’ll have make due with inserting FOV (1/32) scale vehicles into my dioramas to even up the score for the 8th Army against the onslaught of Rommels Armor forces.

Happy Collecting and keep having fun,

Carlos

Splitting hairs? Probably true although I was referring to the new AK series v. the new EA series. It's kind of liking choosing between A and A Plus ;) .
