A wounded French pilot has landed his Spad VII at a RFC field in France and is being attended to by a British medical unit. A little over 100 years ago, these two countries were mortal enemies about to bring their conflict to an end at Waterloo on June 18, 1815. Now they faced a common foe: Imperial Germany.

Artist: Unknown
Medium: Sepia Ink Wash Drawing, 1917

Figures: W. Britain
Ambulance: John Jenkins Designs
Spad Vii: NewRay

Very nice Randy, I do love your WW1 pics the best!!! Thanks for sharing it with us.

This is a real winner, Randy. I love how the Spad VII is worked into the scene. The Fighting Rooster is the squadron insignia of SPA48 and the plane's number 2 would make this the aircraft of Lt. Armand de Turenne, a 15 victory ace. A wonderful, historic moment in time. -- Al

Thanks Craig & Al

Below are pictures of Turenne and his Spad VII and the NewRay kit which comes pre-painted and screws together. It is 1/48th scale and costs $7.50. It looks pretty good with the WB Premier figures and the JJ Ambulance which are a bit under-scaled. New Ray has unfortunately painted British rather than French Roundels on the wings. The French are red. Possibly I can find French decals to cover the ones on the model.

Randy, I have been out of modelling a long time but I know there are many after market decal makers that would provide the correct roundels. Heck, many of the 1/48 WW1 plastic kits come with muliple sets of decals that could be used. Any good model store should be able to provide what you need or point you in the right direction. -- Al
