In the thread from all the King's Men about their new civil war figures, I mentioned troops of African descent in the Revolutionary war. It got me thinking about how much I'd love a set of Black Bucks to go with the FL colonial militia. Here in MA, the Mass 54th from the Civil War gets all the credit while the Black bucks are all but forgotten.
I plead with Matt and all of those at FL to consider it. Is this something that all you "treefroggers" guys would be interested in? If so, show some love here and maybe we can get some!

Sign me up for that GREAT idea. :salute::

All of the manufacturers make the "well known and documented" regiments during the AWI (or any war for that fact). There are so many others that would make for interesting collecting and historical debates.

I will add my voice to yours to get Matt (or any manufacturer who will listen) to move away from the core group of solider and out into these very interesting alternatives.

I have said a few times that I really think FL have done a wonderful job so far with the sculpting an painting of its soldiers of African descent :salute::. I just read the link and there seems to be no record of this unit in combat, for this reason alone I'd think FL would have do the units that fought in combat first. It would be Great to see African American soldiers portrayed in the integrated Militia units they fought in mentioned in the article. Great idea though, were there any all black units that actually fought in the AWI like that of the ACW ? I must say I really don't know much about the period, except for the flags which I have gotten into of late. regards Gebhard

Not the Bucks, but...
"In April 1775 at Lexington and Concord, blacks again responded to the call and fought with Patriot forces. The Battle of Bunker Hill also had African soldiers fighting along the side of the white Patriots."

The First Rhode Island:
"A total of 88 slaves enlisted in the regiment over the next four months, as well as some free blacks. The regiment eventually totaled about 225 men; probably fewer than 140 of these were blacks.[11] The 1st Rhode Island Regiment became the only regiment of the Continental Army to have segregated companies of black soldiers."
"Under Colonel Greene, the regiment fought in the Battle of Rhode Island in August 1778. The regiment played a fairly minor—but praised—role in the battle, suffering three killed, nine wounded, and eleven missing"
"During the course of the war, about one fifth of the northern army was black.[3] At the Siege of Yorktown in 1781, Baron Closen, a German officer in the French Royal Deux-Ponts Regiment, estimated the American army to be about one quarter black.[4]"

Thanks for the info,
So I'm guessing the Black Bucks are out and Rhode Island Light Infantry are in, didn't Britains do a few of them sometime back ? I'm sure if FL did them they would look very nice.. Gebhard
