With all the recent talk of WWI aviation and the Red Baron lately I am surprised this one has not come up on this thread. I'm sure some others have seen it as it is a bit of an oldie (1966 I think?) I just watched it last night and enjoyed it very much.

Aside from lots of great WWI aircraft shots, both German and British, there are also some decent scenes of the action in the trenches and so on.

Lots of aerial footage of the British SE5 like the excellent looking model recently pictured on another thread for instance. Also an appearance of the Red Baron in his famous red triplane.

This movie holds great memories for me as I saw it with my Dad on its release. Great flying sequences and a decent attempt to copy the SE-5's, DR-1 tripes, Fokker D-7's, and Pfalz D-3's. A movie worthy of viewing. -- lancer

I saw it for the first time about a year ago, and I was impressed. I thought it was very well done, especially considering when it was made.

That was my impression as well. I thought I'd have a go at it, not completely confident I'd stick it out to the end, but ended up watching it straight through. WWI is one of my favorite eras to read and collect, so I really appreciated this one on most levels.

How about some WWI aviation themed sets as long as K&C has started producing these for WWII. Seems the interest is probably there......

The Blue Max is one of my favorite aviation films and I have the credentials to be rather picky about those. I hope to see it out on Blue Ray sometime soon.

One of mine, too, as mentioned earlier. Some great, real, flying sequences that weren't special effects magic. I really liked the scene with Stachel and Willi trying to show off their skills to each other. Even a replica Tripe must be a pretty unstable beast to fly and those shots going under the bridge were great. -- lancer
