James Mason and George Peppard Ursula Undress, and yes she is....

A film big enough to encompass a world war! A highly involved tale of Air War in WWI. Pretty good stuff. Lots of aerial combat scenes.

I love Net Flix !!!!

I picked up Paths to glory and will watch that soon.

Blue Max is a great film. Love the opening scene with George P. stuck in the mud and muck of the trenches looking slowly skyward to see the planes flying gracefully high above, all accompanied by the movie's very beautiful musical score.

Loved the film. And Miss Undress is just a happy bonus!

I agree that it is a fine film, great scenes of the planes and aerial combat. I remember reading many years ago about the effort they went to to have the planes made for the movie. The only major detail is that the rotary engines were replaced by radials, so the engines don't spin.

This story is also about class struggle. Stachle trying to prove he is better than the priveledged men of the German officer corp. And also the change in warfare from chivalry and gallantry to the meat grinder tactics and modernization.

The Blue Max

I've seen it in the stores lately for AUS $8.95 (which is almost the same as the US dollar lately).

Haven't seen it in years but based on your reviews I think I'll grab a copy next time I see it.

Cheers guys.

I can't believe I forgot that one, when we were all answering the poll. I'm with you guys, "The Blue Max" is another good war movie. George Peppard turned in a strong performance; it was a shame that he later succumbed to his demons, because he was a good actor.

Great performances from the supporting cast, too. Jeremy Kemp playing a German officer, yet again. And Karl Vogler, too (he also played Rommel in "Patton").

Yes, great movie. Maybe I'll go put it on now...

Prosit!

It is one of the favorites in my collection; thanks for bringing it up. One of my favorite scenes is his aerial "duel" of flying skill" with Willy or the abortive capture of the British scout plane. George was never better and the aerial scenes are first rate.

What about the Great Waldo Pepper, with Redford. I always love that movie.
