Saw this 1953 Jack Hawkins classic yesterday. Haven't seen it in decades and was rather surprised at how much of it I didn't remember and just how good it was. It's about convoy escort corvette HMS Compass Rose and her crew. Stanley Baker has a part, as does Denholm Elliott, amonst others. Hawkins is the ship's captain. It is a very good action movie and character study. -- Al

I did not know there was a movie. I loved the book.

Brad, it was on Streampix, an on-demand feature available on my Comcast service. The music made no particular impression on me. -- Al
