I saw this on Amazon Prime the last couple of days. It’s a Russian four part mini series about a war weary Russian sergeant in 1942 who is given command in an out of the way outpost. After complaining about the soldiers in his command — who are always drunk or fooling around with the local women — the soldiers are replaced with new ones: an all female platoon. When one of them spots two German paras in the nearby woods he takes five of the women to hunt them down, only to find that he’s facing considerably more Fallschimjager.
The true story is based on a book by Boris Vasilyev (unavailable in English) and is a remake of a 1972 movie.
The story is gripping and tense and reasonably well acted and throughout the series you learn about the background of the women under his command. Well worth watching.
