Dear all, a preview of some new figures for our Roman series, this time we are focusing on 'The Emperor's Garden' and what may have gone on there some 2000 years ago. We are expecting these figures around December and hope to have previews at the London show then.

Although we are not focusing on a particular emperor they were well known for their excesses. One example was Caligula used to get his wife to attend parties naked or partially dressed in Roman army uniform. His favourite horse was made an honourary priest and he often had innocent people killed for his own amusement.

Another emperor Nero had his mother and wife executed and is said to have played his Lyre whilst Rome burned. He sems to have had a thing for fire, having hundreds of Christians burned at the stake or savaged by wild animals.

For those of you buying the 'Slave' series we have more of these figures also in the pipeline.

I like the second seated Roman, he looks quite impressive and will probably add to my collection. The others look nice sculpts but not a theme for me. Still look forward to seeing others in the range as it expands.

Beautifully crafted figures. I like the idea of a Roman garden with the ancient pool and more non-fighting Romans (although I must admit that I'm building quite a collection of naked figures).

Any hope of seeing more Egyptians in 2023?

I’m just glad Thomas Gunn decided NOT to replicate the Emperor Tiberius and his supposed pool of “minnows” at his palace on the Island of Capri… Read Suetonius. That kind of set would have been too much 🤣🤣

And if you thought him a little strange to say the least and stay within forum guidelines, try the one known as Elagabalus !

TG Emperor 2, reminds me of several, but mostly Septimius Severus or his elder son commonly known as Caracalla.
Could be used as either in a Campaign camp diorama in Caladonia perhaps !

Haha! Elagabalus was indeed a strange one, even by the terms of the Roman Emperors… From his religious eccentricities to his sexual proclivities, it’s no wonder his reign was short and ended brutally.

I think modern ideas of Ancient Rome include nakedness. Like violentium it's part of the decadent period.
TG has made some great Roman sets. Like you, though, I long for some fighting Ancient Egyptians.
Best Wishes, Paddy

PS: no nude Augustus please:smile2:
