This is a public service announcement. Do not waste your time.
I only stuck with it to see how bad it was going to be.
Detective Jake Gygenall has a upcoming trial for killing somebody and in the meantime has been put in the 911 call centre.
He gets a disturbing call from a female in a moving vehicle who has been kidnapped. My last job as a police officer was in command of a shift (40 people) in such a control centre. What happens in this movie got more ridiculous as it went on. Includes him calling suspect and victim on his personal mobile and zero input from any supervisor in what is a very serious incident involving murder. Naturally you have a guy working until 2am on the morning he is due to stand trial for killing somebody. This clearly has an impact on his behaviour in dealing with the incident as he is under stress.
it is pretty much a one person movie with Jake on the phone to various people. There are no outside scenes. There is no humour, it is depressing and can't think of anything positive to say about it. The best bit was when it ended.
It seems to have just been released in Oz today and is showing as 4th most popular. I am guessing a lot of others are seeing title and Jake and thinking might be good. Wrong. I can only conclude Netflix paid Jake a huge amount of money to be in this. There were no other actors or sets to pay for so even if they gave him a few million still cheap. Director (of Training Day) likewise probably got paid good money.
You have been warned !
