It reminds me of one of my old favorite book series called … Redwall

The collection of 20 or so books were a series of fantasy novels written by British author Brian Jacques.

Mostly aimed a "younger adults" it was focused around warrior "Mice" and other creatures; in medieval setting.
Think about them in the same light as the Harry Potter series or The Chronicles of Narnia.
