I had zero expectations for this one on Netflix. Expected a warmed over remake of the classic Shirley Jackson novel, but they grafted an entirely new story around the characters and turned it into a decent horror show. Surprisingly good acting. It is a bit like "The Shining" meets "Insidious" meets "Poltergeist" meets "Six Feet Under." Hands down the best horror show that I've seen in a long while - and I watch them all.

I've been wanting to try this series, have you watched the Netflix series "Creeped Out"? It's not too terribly bad and the stories aren't "scary" They do creep you out a little, however. lol

I was under the impression that Creeped Out was for younger folks but I may eventually watch it. I'm through four episodes of Hill House and it is still outstanding. The floating giant in episode four was one creepy dude.

You're correct, it is catered towards a younger audience but in October I'm usually down for anything that has to deal with monsters, ghosts, demons and the like. I'm going to start on the House on Haunted Hill series tonight. Another series to give a tyr is Van Helsing. It airs on Syfy but the first two seasons are on Netflix. I'm 4 episodes into the 1st season.

I'm 2 episodes in and it sufficiently creepy enough to watch the rest. -- Al

Yeah Lancer,

Me too! Took a second to place all the older vs younger actors and after that I got it. I like this series and want to check out the creeped one.

I finished up the series. It was outstanding. Nothing like what I had expected. Hopefully there is no season two. It pretty much ended as it should. Would not want to see it ruined with an unnecessary second season.
