Andy C. mentioned a movie with Sean Connery that was a "must",I have tried all the sites i know of and can't find the movie.

For some reason this movie isn't available on DVD.

I have the catalog for Belle and Blade War Video Catalog and they list the Hill but it looks like it's VHS. Their website is www.warshows.com, customer service is 973 328 8488 and order only line is 800 365 2104. There isn't a movie they don't know about.

I remember that movie, I think. Is'nt it the one where he is a prisoner (Sgt Major) in a desert prison and is made (as punishment) to march up and down a mound in the middle of the compound?

Pretty gritty stuff. Kind of a Caine Mutiney in the desert.

Yesterday I spent an enjoyable time working on my guys and watching another Sean Connery movie that I think is underrated, The Wind and the Lion. High adventure in the desert, Teddy Roosevelt and really gung-ho US Marines. Great fun to watch.

I was watching it as well. Much better than the Hill! What a great premise for a set of toy soldiers! I have some AIPs that would serve well. Just need some other sets to make it happen. This really was a great movie! This one gets the Vamp bite of approval,,

The Hill was on TCM last night. Outstanding and gritty. Connery is magnificent (as was Ossie Davis) in their revulsion against the sadistic prison system and the Sergeant Major who runs and is determined to break men. This takes place in North Africa and it's being filmed in black and white gives it's grittiness and edge. This was made at the height of the Bond movies and you can see what a terrific actor Connery is. The cast is wonderful. If you can see it, don't miss it.
