Saw yesterday the Hobbit's second installment (The Desolation of Smaug) with my 2 teenage boys in IMAX 3D and we loved it. Lots of action, fights, etc. in a splendid scenery (NZ). The Wood Elves and Orcs are in their top form!

I've seen it as well, better than the first but still falls a little short for me, seems he's been caught up in the Hollywood formula of ridiculous action designed to sensory overload and I really wish he'd stick to the book, seems like he's still trying to sell the Lord of the Rings trilogy?
I also saw it in the new High speed frame rate, seems to have many advantages but it really gives the picture a "TV" look to me, as best I can describe it.^&confuse

I liked it. I liked the scenes that actually came from the book a bit better as in the dialogue between Bilbo and Smaug.

Maybe the extended cut on DVD will have more of the Elf kingdom.

I can see some kind of theme park ride based on the escape in the barrels.

Anyone think that the Rivertown costumes looked like 1600s Russian?
