Another winner from Thomas Gunn Miniatures: the new WOW447 Horten 229 Flying Wing model šŸ˜Ž

I received mine yesterday and itā€™s a beauty! A nice paint job and great details in the cockpit and undercarriage. I like the inclusion of the Rhurstahl X-4 guided missiles as well. And in case anyone is wondering, the figures are pretty close in scale as HO-229 really is that tiny of an aircraft!

Here are some pics of my vignette display of the model with some K&C Luftwaffe figuresā€¦

Full-scale replica HO-229 at the San Diego Air & Space Museum in California. This was built for that National Geographic documentary where they tested the stealth properties of the aircraft.

Fantastic display of this model aircraft. I did notice the other day when visiting Thomas Gunn Website that both flying and ground versions were sold out.

Thanks! They made only 4 of the WOW447 model and one of the WOW448 with the gears retracted. The Horten 229 is a classic ā€œLuftā€™46ā€ aircraft (and one that was actually built and flown) so I can see the Horten being a popular model.

Quite an extraordinary aircraft!

A real eye opener on the technology which was cutting edge at that time.

i really need to do some more research into this plane!

That's an impressive aircraft and display. Reminds me of the scene in Indiana Jones.

I've that model in Lego form.

Iā€™ve read that the design of the German Flying Wing in ā€œIndiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Arkā€ (in-universe designation: Blohm & Voss BV-38) was based on the Northrop N1M flying wing from 1940. The full-sized prop was built by the Vickers Aircraft Corporation and shipped to the filming location in Tunisia, where it was eventually destroyed when filming the explosive end to that scene. Too bad it wasnā€™t saved and put on display somewhere!

Pics of the Northrop N1M for reference:

And hereā€™s a pic of my 1/64 scale Indiana Jones Flying Wing toy that I got at Disneyland 20-something years agoā€¦ Itā€™s actually not a bad representation of the plane in the film šŸ˜‚

Beautiful story and thanks for sharing your model aircraft from DisneyLand.

Cheers,
