Hello All!
Ericka and I have just returned from the U.K. and I am preparing to get back to the bench. During our stay we visited many of the world class museums in London taking notes and images when possible. We also had the great pleasure of attending the W.Britain evening event at the Guard's Museum and the London Toy Soldier show on Saturday.
The Friday evening event at the Guard's Museum was well attended and I think there are few event sites that could have been better. Although there was rain, the weather was great for December...certainly much better than the snowy conditions and freezing temperatures we left behind in Michigan. The Britains team was able to set up a very nice display of current products and we were also able to show many of the new Zulu War components. This was the first time anyone outside of the U.S. based staff had a chance to see the actual models and the comments were very positive. It was wonderful to chat with so many of the Collectors Club members to get feedback and suggestions for all of the ranges.
This was also my first meeting with Ian Knight face to face and it was a pleasure indeed. His knowledge and passion of the Zulu War seems endless and we could have easily talked all night! The lists of new things to do seems to get ever longer...
On Saturday Ericka and I attended the London Toy Soldier Show. It seemed very busy all day with some areas packed enough to make it difficult to pass from time to time. Although we were able to see most of the vendors, we spent a good amount of time at the W. Britain table chatting with collectors new and old. Unlike some years it stayed pretty busy right to the end... but even with that I was able to spend a little time catching up with John Jenkins and Andy Neilson. I only wish I had time to chat with some others on the manufacturing side a bit longer. Well there is always the next time!
I have to say that every time I return from a show I am even more excited to get back to work. Hope to see and hear from many of you again soon...
